We recently connected with Jenny Powers and have shared our conversation below.
Jenny, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
I aim to leave a legacy marked by unwavering dedication and transformative impact within the music industry. As someone who has passionately supported artists’ growth and success, I hope to be remembered as a fervent advocate for the arts, embodying the spirit of innovation and empowerment. Through my work, I’ve sought to provide artists with a solid foundation and tools to thrive, emphasizing the importance of genuine connection with their audiences. My hope is that people will speak of me not just as a pioneer in music marketing and artist development, but as someone who genuinely believed in the power of music to unite and inspire. I want to be remembered for my commitment to elevating emerging talents and fostering inclusive communities where creativity and leadership flourish. Ultimately, I wish to be seen as someone who not only changed the lives of artists around the world but also enriched the music industry with integrity, creativity, and a deep love for music.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Jenny Powers, Founder and CEO of Blue Avenue Music Group, a multifaceted company encompassing artist management, marketing services, a record label (Blue Avenue Records), production services, and educational workshops. My journey into the music industry was fueled by a passion for music and a desire to make a tangible difference in artists’ careers. Born and raised in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, my path was not traditional; I started with a vision, a couple hundred dollars, and a relentless drive to empower artists through innovative digital marketing strategies.
At Blue Avenue Music Group, we specialize in crafting bespoke marketing campaigns that not only spotlight artists but also forge deep, meaningful connections with their audiences. Our work has propelled artists to chart-topping success across Billboard, iTunes, and Apple Music. Beyond marketing, I serve as the VP of Community Relations at Artisthub.io and the Music Marketing Moderator for Ari’s Take Academy, where we’ve guided over 1,600 artists, managers, and labels globally.
What sets Blue Avenue Music Group apart is our commitment to authenticity and our belief in being the biggest fan of every artist we work with. This isn’t just a saying; it’s a promise to support and champion our artists at every step of their journey. From Grammy-nominated talents to emerging voices, we aim to provide a platform where artists can thrive, leveraging our unique blend of industry insight, innovative technology, and a community-focused approach to music marketing.
I’m most proud of our ability to create inclusive spaces for artists of all backgrounds to grow and succeed. Whether it’s through our collaborations with local businesses, educational workshops, or community platforms, our goal is to enrich the music landscape by fostering creativity, leadership, and a sense of belonging.
At Blue Avenue Music Group, your artistry is our top priority. We’re here to help you navigate the complexities of the music industry, transform your creative visions into reality, and ensure your voice is heard. With a track record of success and a heart full of passion for music, we’re excited to welcome all musicians into our family and embark on this journey together.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
In the dynamic world of music management and marketing, pivoting is not just a strategy; it’s a necessity. At any given time, we can face a series of unexpected challenges: a miscommunication with the label about a release date, distribution to the wrong platforms, or locating critical files needed for sync placements are just some of the pivots faced in any given week. Additionally, a tour vehicle breakdown and last-minute tour date cancellations put our adaptability to the test.
The key to navigating these hurdles is always a blend of quick thinking, robust communication, and a willingness to embrace alternative solutions. We have launched an impromptu social media campaigns to manage the release date mix-up, creating a narrative that heightened anticipation among the fanbase. For the missing files, we leveraged our network to secure backup copies in record time. And when faced with tour issues, we collaborated closely with artists, venues, and promoters to rearrange schedules and transportation, ensuring minimal disruption.
This experience underscores the importance of flexibility in our line of work. Each day presents a new set of challenges, whether it’s negotiating collaborations, managing campaign timelines, or adapting to the ever-changing music landscape. What sets us apart is our ability to pivot gracefully under pressure, ensuring our artists’ success and maintaining the trust of our clients. It’s a testament to the resilience and creativity inherent in the music industry.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
At the core of my creative journey is a mission to empower artists, enabling them to fully realize their artistic vision while building sustainable careers in the music industry. This mission drives every facet of my work, from navigating the complexities of music marketing and distribution to solving the everyday challenges artists face. Whether it’s overcoming logistical hurdles, leveraging new technologies for promotion, or fostering collaborations, my goal is to ensure that artists have the support and resources they need to succeed and thrive in an ever-evolving industry landscape.
