Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jenny Haines Douglas. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Jenny thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Some of the most interesting parts of our journey emerge from areas where we believe something that most people in our industry do not – do you have something like that?
I truly believe that mindset is the foundation of success—regardless of circumstances. With the right mindset and a clear vision, you can achieve extraordinary results. I work in the mortgage industry, which has faced significant challenges since COVID. Rates have been higher, the market has been volatile, and many focused on the fear and uncertainty. But I chose a different approach. I stayed focused on my long-term goals and refused to let external conditions dictate my outcome. As a result, I’ve been able to grow my business by 50% year over year since COVID. When you become laser-focused and truly believe in your ability to succeed, you will. I stand by that 100%. Most people are surprised when I share how powerful this kind of focus can be—but once you experience it, you realize just how much you’re truly capable of.

Jenny, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m originally from Nashville, Tennessee, and I’ve been in the mortgage industry since 2003. Like many, I didn’t plan this career—at 20 years old, I applied for a job as a receptionist at a mortgage company, and within a few months, I was originating my own loans. I quickly fell in love with the work, especially the opportunity to help people who never thought homeownership was possible. Growing up, we never had a home of our own. My family moved from place to place, often staying with realtives who had just enough space to take us in for a little while. I rememeber waht it felt like to never fully feel settled. Thats why to me owning a home isnt just a milestone- its a foundation of feeling secure and grounded. And beyond that, owning realestate is a powerful catalyst for building generational opprotunity and financial freedom. Being able to guide someone from doubt to homeownership is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do. I work with everyone—from first-time homebuyers to seasoned investors—and I’m passionate about not only helping clients secure a mortgage but also showing them how to build long-term wealth through real estate. What truly sets me apart is my commitment to building lifelong relationships. I don’t see this as a one-time transaction; I serve as a long-term advisor, helping clients manage their mortgage strategically, grow their real estate portfolio, and create generational wealth. My goal is to empower people with the knowledge and tools they need to thrive.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
In 2016, my life changed forever. My son was just three years old when his father passed away unexpectedly. We were devastated, and overnight, I became a single mother trying to navigate both grief and the pressure of running a business. As a loan officer, I work entirely on commission—if I don’t bring in business, I don’t get paid. That kind of life-altering loss had a deep impact on me, emotionally and financially. While I managed to keep everything afloat on the outside, I fell into a dark depression that lasted for several years. By 2019, I reached a turning point. I knew something had to change, and I made the decision to reclaim my life—not just for me, but for my son. I began focusing on my healing, breaking unhealthy patterns, and doing the deep inner work to process both the grief of losing my son’s father and unresolved pain from my own childhood. That year of transformation was the most powerful investment I’ve ever made. It not only brought me back to myself, but it also gave new life to my business and purpose. That’s when Mom CEO was born—a name that represents both my identity as a mother and an entrepreneur. Today, both my life and business are thriving, and I know it’s because I had the courage to pause, heal, and grow.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I believe my reputation has been built on consistency, authenticity, and a genuine commitment to serving others. I always answer my phone, I show up, and I stay actively involved in my community. Whether I’m meeting with clients, partners, or neighbors, I lead with sincerity and transparency. I don’t focus on selling—I focus on listening. People can tell when you truly care, and I make it a priority to understand their needs and goals before offering guidance. My goal is never to convince someone how great I am, but rather to create trust by being present, honest, and helpful. That approach has helped me build lasting relationships and a strong, positive reputation in my market.
