We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jenny Fuller. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jenny below.
Alright, Jenny thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
I have been a yoga teacher since 2011, I taught at one studio, and built a pretty big community. During 2020 I saw the owner kind of doing things differently than what I would have done, and it justified me opening my own place. I had a developer and the mayor of my town help with a location. I went all in 2020, it took 11 months to gut the 1940 building I was in, and had a. contractor that was a nightmare. Opened in 2021, hardest part was to convince people to come workout in groups again. 2021, was successful people wanted to get out, 2022 lifetime fitness opened less than a mile away, I can not compete with a box gym, so I lost about 70 members. 2023, after many many failed friendships that were people that worked for me, many people that should not have been there and the lessons I had to learn to get in the place where God wants me… was super hard. But now, half way in to 2023, I have come into my own . I am a boss, I only hire people that are team players, and I can not be around egos, so I have let a lot go!
Jenny, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a wife, mother, business owner, podcaster, yoga/fitness retreats, online course writer, and many more hats. As women we really can do it all. I spent my first part of my life 0-35 asleep at the wheel, in all things ending a 15 year old marriage, where I had no identity. To just being a seat filler, now I own the stage of my life. I am 100% present, and that is hard but also fulfilling because I CAN DO HARD THINGS!
I am now able to help people get out of a life that is not theirs and start owning their designs. Life is a series of decisions, we are all one bad decision away from a really hard life. I want people to AWAKE living in their truth. less complaint and living in a. state of flow, will make you feel grounded excited to get up everyday and you will be a BETTER HUMAN!
KARMA is just a stepping stone to what I have in my plan. I want to help make better humans!
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Too many lessons to count. I thought friends would be great co- workers. not the case. It is hard for them to see you as a boss so it never works out!
lots of friends left me and I can still say to this day, I feel like I haven’t screwed anyone over. I am not a mean business women, but business makes you different. You can’t people please anymore or you will only hurt yourself. that is a lesson I am still learning
How’d you meet your business partner?
One lesson I have learned and my husband is the reason why I do not have a partner, Many people including the mayor of my hometown wanted to write me a check to be a part of it. MY husband is a business owner too and he said never to take anyone money. I didn’t understand it then, but I do know. People own you that way, and he wanted me to do it all on my own. So, I got one business loan before I started and put every penny I had in to Karma. I still do that today.
