Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jenny and Shanna Shine. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jenny and Shanna, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
Shanna: I was on Instagram and my friend forwarded a modeling opportunity. After filling out the application, I got accepted and attended the event in August 2020. The guy who needed models had other business ventures and needed motivated people who were ready to grow as well. After learning of this information I went back and told my friend. I felt this would benefit my business and career brand.
Eventually, my friend decided he was ready to grow and joined us. A few months later he was encouraging Jenny and me that we needed to hang out and knew she would be a great asset to the team. We all collaborated with the business owner to build his fitness/motivational brand. On the plus, it was opening our horizons in new areas of production and business.
I was already encouraging my community on social media with reels and going live. One day we were at our weekly meeting in Feb 2021 and Jenny suggested a podcast for women. She asked me if I was interested in being a part of this journey because she felt I would be the perfect fit. I said, “Yes, I would love to.” She didn’t know it was already in my spirit. The whole team agreed that would be great.
Jenny: I went to Shanna’s place to work on the details. We hit it off within a few minutes of talking. In that space, we felt safe to express our concerns, and thoughts while being supported. We cried, poured out, and uplifted each other. After we finished our “Mental Check-In” which lasted for hours. We worked on the business and that was the core of our podcast. Our mission was for others to have that same experience.
During this time of building, we had distractions and personal challenges that came up, but Shanna ensured we stayed on track. LOL, Weekly meetings were held to strategize the show’s branding, topics, and availability.
In April 2021, we recorded marketing for the podcast, and in May 2021, “Girl Guess What” was launched. We were fortunate to have access to a recording studio, and the show has since been renamed “Girl You Guess’d It.”

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
In October 2022, we had to part ways with our old business partner due to a breakdown in trust and differing values. Although we were afraid that this would break us, we had foreseen this happening and his actions only confirmed it. To recover and improve our business, we took some time off.
We met a woman who proved to be an angel sent by God. We had crossed paths around the time we were separating from our old partner. She helped us achieve a big goal that was a challenge for us, even while we were facing personal difficulties. We are grateful for her mentorship and kind heart.
Throughout this journey, we had moments of doubt and thought that nothing was working out. However, we can say with faith that God has been guiding us and Holy Spirit has been there each step of the way, reminding us not to turn back. This expedition has brought us closer and pressed us to grow.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
We are confident and courageous individuals who are experienced and know our purpose. We light up and shift rooms with our presence. We understand that we need to put in the effort to achieve success and that nothing will come to us without taking action. Therefore, we attend events, collaborate with others to promote brands, and go after opportunities. We have an open platform to help those in need, and we offer our services for hire. Although we have funded most of our work out of pocket. In return, we are expanding our brand and relationship with our community. We strongly believe in our vision and are confident that others will know us soon.
