We recently connected with Jenny and Mary Morales and Cardona and have shared our conversation below.

Jenny and Mary , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear the story of how you went from this being just an idea to making it into something real.

Higher Calling Papers started as an idea in 2017 to make smoking more beautiful. We wanted to offer a rolling paper that could be customized for birthdays, anniversaries, anything anyone can image. In the beginning it seemed so easy, just stick the paper in the printer and bam. That was definitely not the case. The papers were so thin that they would tear in the printer, when we were finally able to print on a paper the images were blurred and oversaturated. We began buying different printers, different papers, different ink and printing, printing, printing. After many ups and downs, trial and error, a million tears, and three long years in development, we had finally figured it out. So, two Best Friends, Jenny & Mary (MaryJen lol) set out to share with the world our unique product. We decided our main goal would be to bring artwork, color and vibrancy to a quality rolling paper.

Jenny and Mary , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

We have always been in love with this industry. We each have personal accounts of how plant medicine has benefited our lives medically. We wanted to be a part of this beautiful community that we had met and so we decided to pursue the dream. The soul of the company lies in our customers memories, their photos and seeing their ideas come to life. Every photo that’s sent is so personal to each individual customer and we get small glimpses of their favorite memories. This is what differentiates from others is that you don’t have to have thousands in the bank and meet these crazy minimum orders to indulge in a beautiful rolling paper designed by you, We bring beautiful papers to the average consumer. at an affordable price.

We take pride in bringing about a product as naturally harmonious as we could. Our rolling papers are 100% Organic Hemp (we can also print on rice papers) and are printed with FDA Approved Food Grade Soy Ink. Our covers come wrapped in hemp wick, which is meant to be used to light the papers and prevent butane inhalation. The covers are made from a natural cotton fiber seed paper. The cotton fiber gives the covers a luxurious feel and every effort to conserve water and resources is taken in making these covers, and once our customers are done enjoying their papers the cover can be soaked for 24 hours and planted and wildflowers will grow. We print our covers with the same food grade ink and no chemicals or other agents added to ensure that they are as environmentally friendly as possible.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?

This whole journey has come with its share of turmoil’s and obstacles. It would be hard to encompass the hardships we’ve encountered the last three years of development and two in production. We’ve dealt with almost every challenge a business can face lack of funds, lack of time, difficulties balancing growth and quality and our still current obstacle of ineffective web presence and getting people to know that we exist. As full time and hands on moms to 7 beautiful children the work really never stops. Something we both agree on and take to heart is that “persistence beats resistance.” Given our goal of building a brand that our children can inherit and continue to grow long after were gone, we both recognize that quitting is not an option for us. After countless trials and error, rejections and balancing work and motherhood we can proudly say that our dreams are finally coming true. We’ve learned to be clear about what balance looks like to us, respect the boundaries we’ve set and always put our families and our personal friendship first.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

As we mentioned before, we love this community and so we strive to provide all our customers with the best experience. If we have fallen short in the past for whatever reason we always made it up to our customers. We love our customers and all the people that we have been blessed enough to connect with in this industry and so we truly cherish how they feel about us and our product.
