Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jennifer Thayn. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Jennifer thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
The legacy I hope to build is an appreciation for the beauty of the natural world and the people in it. When I am gone I think people will say she was kind.
I hope to be remembered as a humanist – “curiosity, a free mind, belief in good taste, and belief in the human race.”
I hope when people look at my art in the future, they will remember how important nature is to the human race. We need it, not the other way around. I hope my art will also help people remember how beautiful this life is. How the ordinary or mundane can actually be the extraordinary or magic. And how beauty is a part of all of us.

Jennifer, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Jennifer Thayn, I am a photographer/visual artist from Utah. I’ve been into photography from my childhood but got into seriously in my jr. year of college. I am a portrait and landscape / lifestyle photographer. I take many types of portrait sessions with clients as well as documentary work. My next goal is to sell prints of my photographs. I would love to collect frames and create a one of one framed print shot. I am most proud of my portfolio throughout the years. I want my brand to bring a level of beauty and awareness in a real and inclusive way. If you would like to work with me – reach out! I love taking photos of people. I am proud of the quality and aesthetic of my work as I use my eye to honor beauty.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I would say my overall mission of my creative journey is to experience and create beauty in my own life and others. Document and honor this beauty by capturing it. I am intrigued by visual imagery and I love creating and existing within that reality. A sort of memory or dream of a real-time moment, frozen in time.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A lesson I had to unlearn is that perfection exists. Because it doesn’t. I would say the backstory is long but. the summary is that the best you can do is just create. When you strive for perfection or judge yourself consistency, it only holds you back.
