We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jennifer Tandarich. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jennifer below.
Jennifer, appreciate you joining us today. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard.
As a freelance hairstylist with a degree in Psychology, I found my purpose very early on. This responsibility included working towards the benefit of others while putting their needs first. I found that I love creating an experience where I am able to make someone feel heard, valued, understood, inspired and loved.
With my faith in God, a degree in Psychology, a Cosmetology license, a Board of Barbering PSP, and a background in learning, studying and understanding numerology, tarot, and astrology, I have been working diligently on creating my own personalized, numerology reading and candle gift boxes to share with you all in the near future.
Jennifer, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I was born in the Midwest, in a small town called Munster, IN. My family and I moved to Cardiff, CA, when I was 6 years old. My partner, PJ, our two little puppies, Tulip and Daisy, and I, currently reside here.
I grew up braiding my girlfriends hair in the library while the librarian would read us books. That developed into me doing hair for my teammates before our games all throughout college. Amongst them, were my roommates, and it wasn’t just the girls but the guys, as well.
A braid, or two, before we took the game field, I would find myself pondering the thought of a salon life. Ponytails, cornrows, a bleach and tone and store bought color, intrigued me. So, I did it all. A quick fade before a football game or who knows … perhaps, someone wanted to go red or purple. I was always willing to pick up a comb, a foil, the clippers, the scissors, a razor or a tint bowl, no matter what the next challenge was. I would stay home just to get the job done.
How’d you think through whether to sell directly on your own site or through a platform like Amazon, Etsy, Cratejoy, etc.
I tend to figure things out on my own. One step at a time. So far, I do sell on my site: https://linktr.ee/FourSeasonsFairytale
As an entrepreneur, with multiple sites,
Linktr.ee has become the easiest and most efficient way to link all of my businesses together.
Please watch for the launch of, anenlightenedillumination.com, coming soon.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
In 2013, I woke up and could barely walk. Prior to that day, I was lying in the back room in the salon, in between clients, on the floor in pain. Long story short, I had to go on disability for 3 months after, not by choice. I was incapable of working. I was humbled to say the least. After and epidural in my cervical spine, I was relieved of a majority of the pain and went back to work part time.
In 2017, I was knocked down again, this time with a 3 level anterior cervical discectomy and fusion, c4-c7. I was told I could not work my job any longer. I said, “the heck I can’t.” On day 4, I was released from the hospital. On day 10, I was off all pain meds. On day 14, I had asked that I be able to work 5 hours minimum a day in my hard neck brace to keep up with my clients routine. So, I did it and life went on. I have had 6 cervical ablations since, on c2-c4. No pain meds but a complete lifestyle change.
I have incredible doctors, an intelligent pain management team, tremendous work friends, loyal friends, kind and caring, loved ones, and, a wonderful family. I have a great work, life balance. I am grateful for today and for God.
