We were lucky to catch up with Jennifer Tabrizi recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jennifer, thanks for joining us today. How’d you first get into your field – what was your first job in this field?
When I was younger, I didn’t care about prioritizing my health. I ate poorly, stayed up late, and partied all the time. I truly thought my body was invincible. I eventually fell ill and started experiencing painful health issues . About a year and a half into feeling this way, I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease, an autoimmune disease with no official cure. This turned my entire life upside down and was a huge wake up call.
I could no longer treat my body the way I was used to. I was pretty much forced to learn a whole new language; Health & Wellness.
Step by step, I began making changes to my lifestyle. It didn’t happen overnight, but eventually I started working out, eating better, practicing yoga, and meditating. My symptoms started decreasing over time, and eventually I heard the magic words “you’re in remission”. That was 6+ years ago.
After going through this experience, I felt called to help others with their health as well. I fell in love with the modalities that helped me, so it felt only right to get certified in reiki, yoga, personal training, and nutrition.
The first position I had in this field was as a reiki practitioner. Reiki had helped me heal tremendously, and so I wanted to share this modality with anyone and everyone. I purchased a massage table and began treating clients out of my home.
Working with people 1:1 really opened my eyes to how much I enjoyed helping others. I loved the messages I would get from clients after sessions, and thoroughly enjoyed teaching about the subject on my social media accounts.
At this time, I really fell in love with having a social media presence. I loved sharing my story with others in hopes it would inspire them to make changes to their own health.
Looking back at this experience, I’m able to recognize that this is when my spark for entrepreneurship was born. I loved working for myself and creating my own hours. I loved finding creative ways to market my work. I also spent countless hours connecting with others at networking events.
It’s important to note that prior to this first position in the wellness space, I had tried starting a business as a mortgage agent. It never worked out, and I’m happy about that. I wasn’t passionate about mortgages like I was about health and wellness. Starting my business as a reiki practitioner sparked something within me, and opened up a lot of doors for me.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
After starting my business as a reiki practitioner, I felt called to learn more about the modalities that had helped me on my own healing journey. I took a course to get certified as a meditation teacher, and shortly after that I completed my yoga teaching training. I remember I started teaching classes immediately in my local area, something that other recent graduates were nervous about doing. I was teaching at local parks, gyms, corporate events, and in the trauma centre at a nearby hospital. Teaching felt so natural to me, and I felt so fulfilled after each class.
The next step I felt called to take was to get certified as a personal trainer and nutrition coach. I applied to a local gym and started building my business there. Within a short time frame, I built up a full-time personal training business, and taught a few yoga classes each week. I was able to combine both my passions in one place.
A few years into running my business, the pandemic hit, and gyms were forced to close. I felt like everything I had built up had been completely stripped away. I also kept thinking about my clients. Everyone was so scared during this time, and I wanted to continue helping them! This is when the possibility of running my business online was born.
I created a yoga and workout schedule for people to join, and I taught classes almost every day. I loved that this opened up more possibilities for my business. I was thrilled to think about how I could help others all across the globe and create a bigger impact. I started thinking about how I could transition my business completely into the online space, so I hired a business coach and was determined to make this a reality!
This is when my coaching business, Healing With Jennifer was born. I combined all the modalities I’m certified in and created a 3-month Private Coaching Program called H.E.A.L (Holistic Empowerment for Active Living).
The program was designed for high achieving women between the ages of 25-35 who are struggling with chronic health issues such as anxiety, depression, joint pain, digestive issues, and hormonal imbalances. The program focuses on a holistic approach to healing, which makes it unique to other programs that are out there.
Clients receive a personalized holistic wellness plan that is tailored to their unique needs and lifestyle. The goal of the program is to help others improve their physical health, reduce chronic health issues, improve their nutrition habits, reduce their stress levels, and increase their emotional well-being, as well as their energy levels.
My goal is to teach each client about the mind-body connection, and to help them establish a holistic lifestyle that is sustainable, so that they see long-lasting results.
I’m very passionate about this work as I know what life is like from both sides. I know what it feels like when you think you’re going to have an early life because of disease. I also know what it’s like to see what your body is capable of and to prove yourself wrong.
What makes the H.E.A.L Program unique is that it offers a holistic approach. We focus on not only your physical health, but mental and emotional health as well. After suffering with my own health problems (and overcoming them) I wanted to teach others what I learned along my healing journey. My goal is to make sure no one makes the same mistakes I did so they can get to where they want to go faster!

Have you ever had to pivot?
When I was in college, I also worked full-time as. bartender. I enjoyed the position so much that when I finished school (I graduated with a Business degree), I continued to work as a bartender.
It enhanced my social life, it challenged me, it paid for my tuition, and also helped me save up for my first down payment on a home.
There was a point in my life where I truly was content working as a bartender. Eventually as I went down a road of personal growth and development, I completely outgrew the position. I was no longer passionate about it, and it began to feel draining opposed to fulfilling.
I can still remember the exact shift I worked where I told myself “I can’t do this anymore”. I went home and cried for a day straight, as I felt so lost. I didn’t understand what was happening.
My sister convinced me to go to a meditation group that night to help get my mind off how I was feeling. To this day I’m glad I went. I remember I received so much clarity that night during the guided meditation we did. It was officially time for me to move on from my career as a bartender. It didn’t mean anything was wrong with me, it just meant it was time for bigger and better things!
I went home that night and typed up my notice, and gave it to my boss the next day. It took so much courage as I fully stepped into the fear of the unknown!
If I had let my fear hold me back, I truly don’t know where I would be today! I’m so glad I made the choice to do something different as it completely changed my life for the better.

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
I take pride in having compassion and empathy with the clients I work with. Everyone is on a different journey, and because of that, needs a different approach to wellness.
Being able to support clients through whatever they are dealing with helps us build a stronger relationship with each other. It allows clients to be more open and vulnerable. Because of this, I am able to help them on an even deeper level. As a coach, I truly believe that this allows my clients to get better results along their health journey!
