We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jennifer Spurgeon. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jennifer below.
Jennifer, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Alright, let’s take a stroll on memory lane, back to when you were an apprentice or intern. What’s a memorable story from that time that you can share with us?
While in college studying photography, I knew that I needed real life experience photographing weddings before I would be comfortable shooting a wedding on my own. Weddings are a once in a lifetime event, so I wanted to be prepared. I worked as a second shooter with another local wedding photographer for a couple of years. I helped her photograph weddings, as well as edit and do some business tasks. This helped me feel more confident when I officially started my business.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
We are a husband and wife wedding photography team. We started our business in 2012 after graduating college and getting married. I had always loved photography and wanted to make a career out of it. After discussing things, we decided to take the plunge. Over the years, we built our business up and photographed hundreds of amazing weddings. We’ve had the honor of working with so many great couples. We love connecting with each couple and capturing their love story.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
Being a husband and wife wedding photography team is amazing because it means we get to work together every day. We met in high school and started dating after a year of knowing each other. From there we attended college together. After we graduated and got married, we decided it was time to start our wedding photography business, and here we are 13 years later!

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best way to attract new clients has been forming relationships with other wedding vendors. We have formed relationships with a few local wedding venues and wedding planners that will recommend us to new couples.
