We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jennifer Simpson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jennifer below.
Hi Jennifer , thanks for joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I’m a local artist with a teacher’s heart to encourage creative growth in artists of all ages. My back story starts in elementary school where there wasn’t a strong Arts program and more often then not, a consistent Arts teacher due to financial restraints. Unfortunately we creative students missed out on basic information that would’ve grown our artistic skills. Once I got to college I found myself having to work harder to catch up to my peers. Having this experience instilled the need to be the teacher that I needed as a younger Artist.
Flash forward to today, I’ve been teaching homeschooling families for 5 years and instructing paint parties for 3 years. I’m always learning and nothing lights me up more then to see an individual create something that they didn’t think they could.
My goal is to guide students (pre-K to adult) to find their creative outlets and to better understand their unique artistic style, all while giving them practical, one on one instruction to push them further as advancing artists.
Anyone can create!
Jennifer , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I started teaching Art 5 years ago when a family reached out to me to tutor one of their children who seemed to have an interest in learning art. It’s life giving to teach others and watch them be proud of their accomplishments. My goal is to build confidence in a student’s unique creativity. To have them realize that with a few tools their creativity can be limitless.
Have you ever had to pivot?
Recently I’ve had a business pivot. I still teach homeschooling families and other students who have an interest in learning Art but I’ve put my main focus into instructing paint parties. From a kids birthday party to a ladies night I’ve got you covered! My job is to help my painters relax and to enjoy the process of making something from nothing.
Alright – so here’s a fun one. What do you think about NFTs?
From what I understand, they are bragging rights in the form of currency. For my business I do not want to cultivate an atmosphere of superficial worth and intitlement .
