We were lucky to catch up with Jennifer Sanderson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jennifer , thanks for joining us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
To be successful….
It doesn’t mean perfection.
Perfection becomes a barrier instead of a goal. It is setting a standard that isn’t achievable. Perfection fills your head with doubt causing you to believe that no matter what you do, it will never be good enough. Trying to be perfect is a form of being concerned about what others think of you. If you are humble and confident, then you should only be concerned about what you think! Do the best you can and your effort will be perfect!
To be Successful …
You have to change your relationship with fear! Everyone has fear but don’t panic or avoid it.
Instead focus, embrace it and see what’s on the other side. Don’t let fear lie to you and stop you from reaching your goals.
When you face your fears it’s then that you grow.
Entrepreneurship will make you look in the mirror and face all the things you have been running from.
I do things based on who I am
NOT on how I feel.
You are strong
You are worthy
You are created with a purpose ..
Proverbs 16:4

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
As a young girl, I was always in the garage right by my dad’s side. He would build projects for my mom and Home Depot was one of my favorite trips with him.
Mom, well she is just gifted! Talented in so many ways. I remember her always re-decorating our home, painting projects, creating something out of nothing, working as a florist designer and sewing up new things! I would travel with her to shops and craft shows for many years. I loved every minute of it. She encouraged me to make ornaments when I was younger and help her with her own business. That’s when it all started.
Years later, I became a florist designer. I would redecorate my friend’s homes, paint, sew up something fun, and make something out of nothing. I followed in my mom’s steps! My parents knew at a young age I would end up working for myself. I was not only independent but determined and hardworking.
It was when my oldest daughter was born that I knew I was going to be a stay at home mom. So, the 15+ years I spent designing weddings came to an end. From there I started photography for about two years. I would take my little one with me until I had two little ones! As much as I loved it, I knew it wasn’t for me at that time.
So, I set up shop in my garage and began working. After awhile I knew we had to move. There was no room for the growing business.
I took a huge risk and moved! This allowed me to have a few barns to work out of and some land.
Now, I cut products out of wood and metal. I sell on many sites. Jane being one of them.
I’m thankful for the success and have enjoyed it. With my kids being homeschooled it has been great to be home with them.
Although, I feel it’s time to move on to the next adventure! I am working on some things to add more variety to The Rustic Deer . I have to look fear in the eyes again and go for it.
Can you talk to us about manufacturing? How’d you figure it all out? We’d love to hear the story.
I manufacture all my products right here out of my barn. When I took the big risk a few years ago and moved is when I purchased my first cnc router .
Home decor is what I sell most of in bulk. Although, Custom orders are my top seller.
After about two years of growing this wood collection, I bought a plasma cnc.
I reached my goal y’all! Such an excited time to finally be able to cut metal along with wood.
So here we are four years in. My next goal is what I’m currently working on and I promise it’s gonna be fun! What is it? Follow along to see!
Remember … when you reach your goals there is always new goals and dreams you didn’t t know you had!

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
