Hi Jennifer S., can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Olijé Body Care was started as I had an issue and needed to find a solution. My business name is personal as it is a tribute to my parents, Otis and Lillie Sykes (deceased). My business name is a breakdown for (O-Otis – li-Lillie – jé- Jennifer). My father was an entrepreneur and he instilled hard work, ethics, dedication and the entrepreneurial spirit. I absolutely love making handmade products for my skincare line, because this is a passion. I noticed a lack of options for high-quality, eco-friendly skincare products in the market. I believed that everyone should have access to nourishing and safe products that promote healthy and healed skin. I dedicated myself to sourcing the finest natural ingredients and formulating products that are free from harmful chemicals and toxins. Through extensive research and development, Olijé Body Care developed a range of products that are not only luxurious and effective but also sustainable. I prioritize using organic and ethically sourced ingredients as well as eco-friendly packaging materials.
One of the products that launched the business concept, in which I personally use, is my Eczema Butter. I have suffered from eczema and dermatitis, and since creating my products, I am proud to announce my eczema and dermatitis has been under control since 2015. My handmade skincare line includes eczema butter, pain relief, hair, facial, body, feet and hand products.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, this has not been a smooth road as owning a business comes with its fair share of struggles and challenges. Some common struggles that I have experienced has been financial challenges, competition, marketing and work-life balance.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
There are several things that makes me happy, Happiness is subjective and can be influenced by personal preferences and circumstances. I enjoy positive relationships, personal fulfillment, gratitude, maintaining physical and mental well being, showing acts of kindness, having a positive mindset and enjoying and being present for experiences.
