We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jennifer O’Shea. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jennifer below.
Hi Jennifer, thanks for joining us today. Can you walk us through some of the key steps that allowed you move beyond an idea and actually launch?
I actually started making money in my blogging business 5 years ago. I have been working on this business for about 7 years now. When I first started, it was a lot of TIME. So much time that people would always ask me why I would focus on something like this if it didn’t make any money or would not make any money. When you start a business, it takes a lot of hard work and time. And maybe for the first couple of years you won’t make a lot of money or even get your return on investment, but that doesn’t mean give up. Finally I was able to start making money off of this business venture above my investment and it truly was the definition of being persistent. If I wasn’t persistent, I would have gave up a long time ago, but I stuck with it and it finally paid off. Stick with it, even if it is time and dedication, you have no idea what you are missing out on if you give up.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a single mom with a 9 year old daughter living in Washington state. I am a 3rd grade teacher as well as a blogger for a side hustle. I am working all of the time. The key is to figure out a good work-life balance, especially when there is no one there to offset the parenting duties. I’m most proud of being able to work full time, take care of my daughter full time, and still be able to keep my blogging business going as well!

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
My best source of new clients for me is Instagram or email leads. Those are the best places for me to see other bloggers and influencers and what brands they are collaborating with.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being creative is that I can use it how seems fit for the client that I am working with based on what they are looking for along with what fits my audience most.
