We were lucky to catch up with Jennifer Octavien recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Jennifer thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
The story of Spirit of Iteru began during a transformative period in my life in 2020. Amid the uncertainty of the pandemic, I felt a deep calling to connect more meaningfully with myself and others. Drawing on my creative background as a makeup artist and business owner, I wanted to create something that combined artistry with purpose.
“Iteru,” meaning “river” in ancient Egyptian, symbolizes flow, vitality, and limitless possibilities—the perfect reflection of my vision. I imagined custom intentional jewelry and holistic tools that weren’t just beautiful but also deeply meaningful. These pieces would serve as wearable energy and tools for empowerment, healing, and creativity.
What made this endeavor feel right was the growing interest in intentional living and holistic wellness. People were searching for ways to connect with their inner power, and Spirit of Iteru met that need in a unique way. Each piece is crafted with purpose, becoming more than a product—it’s a symbol of transformation and self-discovery. Seeing people connect with these creations and feel their impact has been the most rewarding part of this journey.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Jen, founder of Spirit of Iteru, an online metaphysical boutique specializing in custom intentional jewelry and holistic tools designed to inspire healing, creativity, empowerment, and joy. My journey into this work stems from a passion for artistry and a desire to create meaningful, transformative pieces.
Spirit of Iteru offers custom-made jewelry and spiritual tools that go beyond aesthetics—they’re crafted to support personal growth and empowerment. Each piece is intentionally designed with energy and symbolism to help clients align with their highest potential.
What sets my brand apart is the personal connection I bring to every creation. My goal is to provide tools that inspire and uplift, whether it’s a piece of jewelry that serves as a daily reminder of strength or a tool for grounding and clarity.
Spirit of Iteru is more than a boutique—it’s a space for empowerment and connection. I’m proud to offer pieces that resonate deeply with my clients, helping them shine their own light and embrace their journey.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of new clients for Spirit of Iteru has been the incredible exposure that comes from creating jewelry for notable figures. Designing pieces for celebrities like singer and rapper Kamauu and Nokio from Dru Hill brought significant awareness to my business and artistry. Their support not only highlighted my work to their audiences but also validated the intention and craftsmanship behind every piece I create. This exposure has helped attract clients who value unique, meaningful designs and appreciate the energy and purpose behind Spirit of Iteru.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
A defining moment of resilience came during the early days of Spirit of Iteru, when I was navigating the challenges of launching a business during the pandemic while also going through a divorce. Balancing personal upheaval with sourcing delays and the pressures of building a brand tested me in ways I hadn’t imagined. When a key shipment of materials was delayed, I reimagined designs with what I had, communicated openly with clients, and found their support to be overwhelming. That experience reinforced my adaptability and deepened my commitment to creating beauty and meaning, even in life’s most challenging moments.
