We recently connected with Jennifer Noble and have shared our conversation below.
Jennifer, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think it takes to be successful?
Success. It’s something often associated with money or accolades. To me, it means being truly happy in what you do, bringing joy to those you do it for, and still finding time to spend quality time with friends and family. Owning your own business can be a dream come true or an absolute nightmare. Setting boundaries early in your journey will ensure that you own your business and your business doesn’t own you. Scheduling time off on your calendar for yourself and things you want to do will allow you to keep enjoying what you do. I never had the illusion that my bakery would make me a millionaire. I was looking for something that allowed me to create unforgettable memories for my clients and to be a small part of their most important celebrations while still being able to put food on my table and being able to take the time off when I need it.
Jennifer, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Cheeky Monkey began as a labor of love by the three Gibson Girls, Myself (Jennifer (Gibson) Noble), Christine Gibson-Love, and Catherine (Gibson)Bublik.
We Gibson Girls are the daughters of Dallas O. Gibson and Marylyn Joachim Gibson, and grand-daughters of Rose and Jack Joachim. Our family history with the Mississippi Gulf Coast dates back to the late 1800s when the Joachim family relocated from New Orleans to Ocean Springs, Mississippi. I am the lead decorator and have 20+ years of decorating experience, both as a hobbyist and professionally, and can create the perfect one of a kind cake for your event. I most recently served as the Vice President and Convention Chairman for the International Cake Exploration Societe’ and Cake Expo and currently am the Director of Cakin’ the Coast non profit organization based in Mississippi.
Christine brings her 20+ years of customer service background and customer service training to Cheeky Monkey Cake Company to provide each customer with a memorable experience.
And last, but certainly not least, Catherine, the head baker, has over 10 years professional experience and will ensure that your treats are always sweet!
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
We are a family business and have created a family with our clientele. We understand that they are asking us to be a small part of their most important celebrations and we take that responsibility very seriously. We get to know their likes and dislikes and keep track of their birthdays, anniversaries, and other celebrations.

Can you open up about a time when you had a really close call with the business?
The Covid-19 pandemic caused havoc in our industry as well as many others. When we were mandated to stop having events and then reduced events, we almost went under. Our “family” of clients rallied around us and we implemented our Adopt A Hero program for them to purchase cupcakes for our First Responders and Medical Personnel working throughout the shutdown. We delivered to hospitals, fire stations, police stations, 911 dispatch buildings, doctor’s offices, etc. This program allowed us to continue working and keep our doors open and employees paid as well as give back to our community.
