Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jennifer Montez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Jennifer thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Parents can play a significant role in affecting how our lives and careers turn out – and so we think it’s important to look back and have conversations about what our parents did that affected us positive (or negatively) so that we can learn from the billions of experiences in each generation. What’s something you feel your parents did right that impacted you positively.
Both my parents have always had a strong work ethic from children. My father came from a humble background and always had side hustles as a child and my mother always worked hard in school, while having multiple jobs and always achieved all of her goals. I watched both my parents build their business’ from the ground up into a successful business. I witnessed them go through a divorce and each having to start on their own once again. They have always supported me to reach for my dreams and that there is no goal you cannot achieve! They installed a strong work ethic, ambition, drive, to believe no mountain is too high to climb and to never settle but to always stay humble!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I graduated cosmetology school in 2009, from there I worked at Avalon Salons in Dallas doing hair cuts. I met wonderful and admirable hard working people there! I later worked at Nordstroms Cosmetic Counter doing makeup. As much as I loved working there, I did not feel 100% fulfilled until I branched out and started working for bridal companies doing exactly what I love, which was Hair styling and Makeup! After working for companies for a couple years, I eventually started JMGLAMOUR. I started with 3 girls on my team and now grew into 15 girls and more! One of my girls who started with me is still with me today and I will forever cherish her! I am so grateful for each girl on our team! We would not be where we are at without them! JMGLAMOUR provides on location hair and makeup styling for weddings and other occasions. However, Our main focus is weddings! I just love being able to be a part of our client’s most special day! We have a studio in North Dallas that I recently renovated and we do our trials, engagement’s and other occasions there! There are multiple things I am proud of! One of them being, the awards we get, getting the cover of Brides of North Tx (which is now Wed Society), but most importantly my team! Each of them are so hard working, loyal, dedicated, talented and go above and beyond for our clients! I am so proud of each of us!
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Marketing wherever you can! On Instagram, wedding websites (the knot, wedding wire, wed society, wedding magazines and my favorite, referrals from our past clients!
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
I like to stay friends with my clients on social media and stay connected that way! As well as giving discounts or gifts to referrals as a thank you for trusting and recommending us!
