Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jennifer Miranda. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jennifer, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I have always felt I was creative. I love arts and craft, dancing, acting and even a little bit of baking. Creating with my hands brings me so much Joy. But it wasn’t until 2018 when I had the opportunity to teach a Bible Journaling class at a local bookstore that something sparked in me and I wanted to create digital content to be used in the Bible. So I began to sketch in a notebook cartoon like faces with curly hair and really finding my style. To my surprise I could draw! I didn’t think I had it in me. (still have lots to learn). Then in the year 2020 I began to draw in my iPad and I created my first sticker set and millions of ideas rushed to my head. And Bloom By Jenn was born. Since then I have designed Cards, Calendars, Stickers sets, Digital Printables, bible tabs and recently I designed a Planner and a notebook collection. But I didn’t stop there I have also taught myself how to sew and I make a few handmade items like keychains and headbands. During this process of finding out I can draw and be creative in that way, my son was diagnosed with Autism and speech delay and it has been an incredibly challenging journey that till this day we work really hard to help him with his development. I feel that working on creating for my business either with creating new illustrations, sewing something or (recently) teaching a painting class helps me to stay focused. I don’t have a lot of time in my day for myself so I use any minute I have between school drop off/pick or late at night to illustrate in my iPad and create products that not only bring me JOY but hopefully with bring much happiness to my costumers.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I am a mom of two amazing kids, a wife and a creative business owner. Im always day dreaming of new ideas. In 2020 after 2 years of doodling in my notebook I decided to start illustrating in my iPad and eventually I opened my first Etsy Shop and I had digital content and stickers. Most of my items are faith related and with a positive motivating message. Since then Bloom by Jenn has bloomed and we have various items. I have items to use in your Bible like bible tabs, bookmarks, sticker sets to name a few. We also have sticky notes which are perfect to have at your desk in your office and handmade items like headbands for those crazy hair days and keychains so you’ll hopefully won’t loose your keys. Soon I will add other handmade items. We also recently released a collection of Notebooks and a Planner which are all illustrated by me, Im currently working on another design for a Planner so stay tuned. Besides all this I have had the opportunity to teach a monthly painting class featuring one of my original designs which is so fun. What inspires me to create is nature, my faith and my daily experiences. Creating and illustrating keeps me focused and motivated. It gives me so much joy to see my designs in new products.
My hope is that my illustrations and products will bring happiness and joy to your day. I believe that having cute accessories and stationary will make your day a littler brighter.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I hope that my illustrations and my products make someones day. I enjoy creating illustrations that will encourage you and make your day a little brighter. A goal that I have and I hope one day soon can become a reality is to have a Brick and Mortar. Having a physical shop is one of my dreams. Not to only to sell my products but to also offer classes. Offer classes to the community and also to have art classes catered to the Autism Community. It would be an honor to have a safe space for children and adults on the Autism Spectrum to come in and learn different ways to paint and learn through different types of art.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
One of the most rewarding aspects of being a creative for me is the journey each illustration takes me. When I draw I sometimes get lost in the details and its so fun to see the final results. Also to see my designs come to live in either a sticker or a notebook cover it is absolutely an amazing feeling. Lastly when my costumers share with me how they love and use my products brings a smile to my face and makes this creative journey a great one.
