We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jennifer McCracken. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jennifer below.
Jennifer, appreciate you joining us today. Are you happy as a creative professional? Do you sometimes wonder what it would be like to work for someone else?
I’ve known since I was a child that I was an artist at heart, but I didn’t get my actual creative footing untill Sept 2018! Before that I was working at a pawn shop! I was managing the online fire arm sales and transfers. While working full time at that job felt myself sinking into a depressive state. The most creativity I had the time for was dying my hair whacky colors! Since my departure from that position I havent held any other “regular” jobs. I’ve been a full time artist since the before mentioned September 2018! There are numerous downs to owning your own business and being a full time creative. Such as low sales, creative mind blocks and the inevitable oopsies that are bound to happen. At those times I miss having a “regular” job. The stability of knowing where my next paycheck was had its comforts. However the upside of working for yourself and being a creative mind is all the joy that it brings into the world. My customers are what makes it worth it for me, not to mention the creative release that is available!!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
When I started my first social media account dedicated to art I was primarily just using Acrylic Paint for fluid paint pours and fluid art of that style. I learned a lot about myself and my craft during that Era of art, but I soon found my creative medium of preference in late 2019 when I met my now long time best friend Elena Corradino! She introduced me to the epoxy resin world, and absolutely blew my mind! I was able to create a whole new level of art, and not only that I was able to make them functional! During the last few years I’ve chipped away and carved out my own individual style through lots of play and practice! I found that what my clients want is FUNCTIONALITY! Yes, art alone is beautiful, but when you add the extra element of function it becomes a useful peice of their home. I am honored to have my functional home decor creations in hundreds of homes, and in numerous countries! I want my art to invoke happiness and remind my clients that even though the world is rough there are bits of sunshine popping through!

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I’ve been creating content on social media for over 4 years at this point and it feels like I’ve literally tried everything under the sun to inspire growth in my presence online! What I’ve found works for me and in my area of creation is making tutorials! It seems like people want to know how I’ve created and how they can learn to create as well!

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of my craft is definitely being able to bring others ideas to life as well as my own! The amount of joy that it brings is almost too much to quantify!
