We were lucky to catch up with Jennifer Martinez-Duque recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jennifer , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
It was a small risk I took I had no clue how to start a business or how to go about marketing. Luckily my cousin Stephen Who is an entrepreneur showed me how to get started and how to market my business. With his wisdom has help me grow .
Jennifer , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hello I’m Jennifer Martinez-Duque. I am Tooth gem technician a Certified Medical assistant and X-ray tech a Mom and soon to be mini pancake maker ( Jenny’s Mini Hot Cakes) I got into this industry about six years ago . I came across a video on YouTube of a California lady that puts diamonds and gold on peoples teeth. It reminded me when I was 15 and I saw this in Mexico my cousins had little diamonds on their teeth I wanted one so bad but didn’t have the chance to get one. When I saw the video about six years ago I googled to see who offered this here in Dallas and no one was listed I was going to fly to California to get a Tooth Gem but my husband Juventino offered to buy me the kit for tooth gems as a birthday gift . My cousin Tiera who is in the dental field train me on how to apply ToothGems it’s the same process as putting brackets on for braces. What sets me apart from others that offer the service here in Dallas is that I’m the first and I have many years of experience blinging peoples teeth . I take a lot of pride in my business I created , it’s about making clients happy, I love to hear them tell me I can’t stop smiling. People feel beautiful having that little sparkle on there tooth and I’m grateful for all the clients who have put there trust into me and share my work with others to help me grow .
How did you build your audience on social media?
How I build an audience or market myself on social media is a model had reached out to me to Bling her teeth and she would share multiple post on her social media . I did a lot of models who have large amount of followers my first year and thanks to them business came in . My advice is to reach out to someone who has a very large fan base and ask them if they would be interested in promo .
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source to get new clientele is social media and Google. Always ask clients to share on their page of my work because without word-of-mouth I wouldn’t have business.
