We recently connected with Jennifer MaHarry and have shared our conversation below.
Jennifer, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
Each project is meaningful in its own way, of course, but going out onto the open plains to photograph wild horses for the first time was very meaningful. It started with witnessing a wild horse round-up which was very hard to watch, and stresses the need for preserving land for the horses so this need not happen. From there I went further afield to see the horses as they should be, without intervention, it was remarkable.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Part of capturing compelling images of wild life has to do with being able to respect them so they act naturally and do not flee, it seems I can often do this. Something about my background that helps take this a step further is that I designed posters for so many years for Hollywood films, this skill set, it turns out, helps me make images that are concise and compelling.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I think a lot of people really do want to connect with nature and with wildlife, one of my goals is to create images that help make this connection, which hopefully will further inspire people to want to save the environment.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
You start with people you know, of course. I’m actually a person who sometimes struggles with the social media element, so I’d advise people like myself to just try to do it because you never know who you will connect with, and who will find your work inspirational.
