We were lucky to catch up with Jennifer Mabon recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jennifer, appreciate you joining us today. Are you happier as a creative? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job? Can you talk to us about how you think through these emotions?
I’m the happiest at being a creative. Having the ability to create amazing dishes, brings happiness and comfort to my heart. It gives reasons to be proud, Knowing that this work of art is from my hands.
I sometimes think about having a regular job quite often especially when the money of flow isn’t coming in to the consistency of what I am expecting everyday or on a weekly basis.
For example, If I’m struggling with meeting a quota for the week, then that makes me want to apply for a job. It makes me feel inadequate in running my own business, When the money doesn’t come in a overflow or as expected, it makes me want to apply For a job to gain better experience at running my own business, while bringing in a second line of income.
Jennifer, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m Jennifer Mabon, a wife and a mother of three beautiful children. All my life, since I can remember, I soaked in the arts of cooking, particularly southern cuisine. Searching for the underlying ingredient, influenced with the development of African cultural food history. Wondering how my ancestors came up with amazing meals and recipes. How did they manage the salt of every meal, was piece to the puzzle I was willing to find.
Cooking was purpose for me. Even as a child, I use to go outside my front yard, and use the dirt and grass pretenting to prepare a pot of greens. Not knowing the connection leading me in the Culinary Arts.
I believe what sets me apart today, I try to implement parts and areas of my roots into my cooking style. Using world views, while attaching traditional and foundational principles of my heritage.
Upon my journey, I plan to implement and cater to multiple people, not just for the enjoyment of food..
but also to provide herbs of healing worldwide.
What I want you guys to know, Cooking is not a job or career, this is destiny. My father’s will. I was birthed out into a world to provide amazing products and amazing meals.
At my 40th mark of life, I have birthed out a product line of seasoning called 7EVEN, many people purchase my seasoning, using to prepare amazing meals. In mind, I wanted to create herbs that leads to a creole feel. However, I found out, I have a greater wide view to service, not bound to a particular area.
What I’m most proud of is that, I’m able to use the vehicle that God has given me for cooking. I’m grateful for the gift, as it provides smiles to many all over the world, which makes me most happiest.
I never thought in a million years to be here in this place of my journey. I couldn’t see all that God had in store for little ole me. It was when, I accepted his invitation to the plans and purpose for my life, that all of this is possible. Thank you father!!!
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I built my social media platform by going live and by posting funny tiktok videos. I find this as a way to connect and build my way through the social media world. One way to connect and to build a platform is through live video. Another, Knowing what your audience want and need. Also, Knowing your community and who you are serving, is a great component.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspects of being a creative is that, I get to put smiles on people’s faces nationwide. I get to share my spices in many homes, many kitchens around the world is amazing to me. I did not believe or even think that I’ll be this far, with being in a environment to fail, to see God move in my life is simply wonderful.
