We were lucky to catch up with Jennifer Lopez recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jennifer , appreciate you joining us today. How do you feel about asking friends and family to support your business? What’s appropriate, what’s not? Where do you draw the line?
I think as an entrepreneur first and foremost you have to have thick skin. Many times we as small business owners have high hopes our closest friends and family members will be our biggest supporters. This is not always the case. Or you see friends and family go to a “competitor” or a larger corporation over you and your services. This is tough to swallow!
But just always remember keep going and pushing forward. Sometimes strangers or people you just met will be your biggest supporters and cheerleaders!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My journey has changed so much as a solo business owner through out the years. I started out my business as a solo licensed esthetician. Advertising myself everywhere until I finally had a great book lash extension of clients.
Then covid hit and I lost about 50% of my clients. I decided it was the perfect time to incorporate a new service, body contouring and trainings . This helped my business immensely.
Now with trends coming and going I found myself starting to slow down, so once again I kept my eye open for new trending services. Along came permanent jewelry! I jumped right in and it’s been such a challenging and fun ride. About a year in from my original training and it’s just getting better and better.
Always be comfortable making changes, evolving, growing and shifting. This is key to success!

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Pivot should be my middle name by now! I am always evolving. and growing, changing with the trends. During the beginning of the pandemic all estheticians and beauty providers were shut down. During this time I started creating and selling custom face masks with my sister in law. This was a huge success and continued to be a great source of revenue even after going back to taking clientele.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Post, post, post and more posts! I always try to take advantage of literally the free marketing we all have through social medial platforms. Being consistent, personal, engaging, and a little bit clever is key! Now if only I can tackle tiktok ;)
