As an artist, I’ve learned a lot by taking various courses and exploring different resources. I’ve discovered new techniques and gained insights from artists around the world by reading and watching their works.

Understanding the materials and tools I use has been crucial for providing high-quality work. However, I’ve faced challenges like managing my time with family and work responsibilities, keeping up with industry changes, and handling finances.

Despite these challenges, I’ve learned to be patient and multitask effectively. It’s been a journey of ups and downs, but I’ve found joy in the process and grown as an artist along the way.

Hello everyone, I’m Jennifer Kate, a lash artist with over 12 years of experience in Buckhead, Atlanta. My journey began after a trip to Asia where I noticed the popularity of lash extensions. As an Asian woman struggling with mascara and eyelash curlers to look awake, I wondered why this service wasn’t as popular in the US. So, when I came back to the US, I also took lash extension courses from different companies to further hone my skills.

After a course in Vietnam in 2010, I brought my newfound expertise back to Atlanta. While working a marketing job, I practiced on friends and family, eventually deciding to fully focus on my career as a lash artist in 2012. Despite the limited resources available at the time, I was determined to provide a painless and comfortable experience for clients while achieving clean, non-damaging results that lasted long-term.

I constantly improved by listening to client feedback and addressing common issues, like saving time in the morning routine by eliminating the need for mascara. I take pride in my attention to detail and efficiency, ensuring clients leave with comfortable, natural-looking lashes.

I prioritize understanding each client’s needs and lifestyle to create a professional look that fits their preferences. By using top-quality products and collaborating with other artists, I ensure a smooth and convenient experience for our clients. I’ve also trained multiple students to deliver high-quality work, maintaining our standards across the industry.

I work diligently to create a smooth operation and ensure clear communication between artists at Just Wink Lashes. We have our own lash coding system in place, allowing our clients to seamlessly transition between lash artists. This ensures consistency and quality in service, no matter who they see. At Just Wink Lashes, we prioritize the convenience and satisfaction of our clients above all else.

Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?

For fellow business owners looking to build their social media presence, here are some suggestions and advice based on my experience:

Invest in High-Quality Imagery: Consider hiring a photographer to capture high-quality and professional images of your business and offerings. Visual content plays a significant role in attracting and engaging your audience on social media platforms.
Focus on Content Creation: If you have the resources, consider hiring someone skilled in content creation to manage your social media accounts. Creating engaging content that resonates with your audience is key to building trust and rapport with local clients and customers.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?

I am driven by a desire to improve the lash industry and market, ensuring that clients understand the safety and benefits of lash extensions. In today’s beauty industry, there are countless artists who lack proper training, leading to subpar work that may harm clients’ natural lashes. This misconception can deter people from trying lash extensions altogether.

However, when done by well-trained artists who deliver high-quality service, lash extensions are a fantastic option. Unfortunately, many clients have had negative experiences due to artists who lack knowledge about products, applications, and ingredients. My aim is to change this narrative by spreading awareness and educating fellow artists on proper techniques to maintain the integrity of clients’ natural lashes.

I’ve encountered numerous cases of damage caused by inexperienced artists, unintentionally putting clients at risk. My goal is to teach these artists the importance of safety and application methods, ensuring they provide a long-term solution for clients while avoiding any potential risks.

I want to assist those who are starting their careers and those who have received inadequate training, guiding them towards a healthier approach to lashing. By sharing clean work practices globally, I hope to reach artists in all corners of the world, providing resources and knowledge to improve the industry as a whole.

Ultimately, I aim to show clients that lash extensions can enhance their lifestyle by streamlining their morning routine and saving time on makeup application. By helping artists who have been misled by unscrupulous companies, I strive to elevate the standard of service and ensure the safety and satisfaction of everyone involved.
