We recently connected with Jennifer Jones and have shared our conversation below.
Jennifer, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I remember watching a mini vlog on TikTok and I immediately fell in love. I’ve always loved visually telling a story, taking anyone who watches or engages on a journey; but when I found out it could be my career, I knew at that moment, almost 2 years ago, that I needed to pursue this full-time.
Creatives have such a beautiful way of showing the world from their perspective; allowing others to see the things from a different lens. Making a trip to Target fun + relatable or sharing a new product or bringing viewers along on an exciting trip is incredibly enjoyable for me!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a Jersey girl now living in Atlanta, GA with my precious pup Puffy. After graduating high school, I attended Temple University in Philadelphia, PA for 2 years until I decided college or becoming a teacher just wasn’t for me. I immediately started working in retail as a cashier where I eventually became a manager with several stores and later transitioned into an account management role. It was in 2013 after going through a layoff, that I suddenly found my career in HR/Recruiting and I have never looked back!
I’ve recruited for companies such as Adecco, Cirque du Soleil, Amazon, Instacart, Uber and Google, where I support the entire hiring process for candidates and ensure the best experience possible for them.
In my spare time, I create content and I have a podcast called “The Jennuine Life Podcast”. It’s a weekly, lifestyle audio series where I focus on all things positive, mental health and wellness and living a genuine life authentic to you.
I also offer career coaching sessions, assisting professionals with writing a powerful resume and telling a clear story so they are their most confident while on the job market. As someone who, without a degree, has gone from retail, to sales to technical recruiting, I had to get really good about pivoting my career and communicating how my previous experience was transferable to the new role I was applying to. I have always been great at sharing my career story and now I help others do the same.
I am so proud to be an unconventional, out the box, big dreamer and it is my mission to help others do the same in order to live an amazing life, on their terms.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Sometimes, social media can be a tough place to exist. Social media can make you feel not good enough, not pretty/handsome or smart enough. We chase more without appreciating what we already have or accomplished.
My mission is to be apart of the creatives that brings real life to the internet. I want anyone who interacts with me, both online or in person, to walk away feeling empowered, knowing they are more than enough, flaws and all. they should leave with the confidence to know that anything they put their mind too is achievable.
As someone who has and continues to manage depression and anxiety, I need others to know they aren’t alone. That it is okay not to be okay, but prioritizing mental health, seeking help and surrounding ourselves with the right people and resources will allow for a fulfilling life.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Romanticizing life! Life can get dark, it’s already hard; so making the ordinary, extraordinary is so much fun for me.
It’s a reminder that I only live once, to not care about what anyone thinks, that the only limitations are the ones formed in my mind. Being creative is freedom for me.
