We recently connected with Jennifer Jasmin and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Jennifer thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.
It took me 20 years and I explored 2 countries plus 5 cities and earned 6 degrees to get where I am today. Learning to adapt fast and believe in myself are my affirmations to help me achieve my goals. I struggled adapting to the new culture but I didn’t stop there. I learned to adjust to the new culture by learning from others and observing what’s happening around me. My goal for my career is to become my own boss. Having my own private practice has fulfilled my career goal.
Jennifer, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Jasmin Psychology is a cultural private practice located in Beverly Hills, California. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with an organizational psychology background. I provide psychotherapy for adults, adolescents, and children. I offer individual therapy, couples therapy, as well as family therapy. In my practice, I combined Cognitive Behavioral techniques with a Solutions-Focused approach to treat anxiety and depression as well as to find work-life balance. I have a doctoral degree in organizational psychology and published research on female leaders and their work-life balance in two different cultures such as collectivistic and individualistic cultures. I integrated all my knowledge and skills to help people restructure their thoughts and help them overcome their fear and guilt.
If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
If I could go back, I would not choose a different profession or specialty.
Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
Resilience has been an invaluable asset in my career, helping me to persist in the face of adversity and remain focused on my goals. It has enabled me to stay positive when faced with challenging situations and to find creative solutions to problems. Resilience has also enabled me to maintain strong relationships with colleagues and clients, to stay motivated and productive when times are tough, and to take constructive criticism in stride. Ultimately, resilience has been a key factor in my success as a business owner.
