We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jennifer Hernandez. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jennifer below.
Jennifer, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
The most meaningful project I’ve been part of has definitely been being in the campaign for Limecrime. It hit so many stores with our picture Sally’s Beauty, Target and Walmart. I’ve been on many more projects I’ve been proud of but that one definitely opened a lot of doors.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Jennifer Hernandez many know me as Makeupandtatt2 or Jennayyy. I’m from South Gate, Los Angeles. I first started my journey when I was 17. I started going to makeup school and then after I went to beauty school. I got very lucky and got hired right after schooling and did makeup for many years. I met a lot of amazing artist and models all of them were always amazing to me, after a while I just started doing personal makeup videos for a lot of major companies and I loved just working from home so I kept doing that for years. After a few years I would go to lowrider shows and tattoo shows and photographers would always ask to take my pics. I would always say no because i wasnt really comfortable. Modeling was something i always wanted to adventure and it actually happened when I was hired for the brand SupFoo. They are the ones who really opened my doors to street modeling after that I was getting hired left and right to model for a lot of huge brands and been very grateful. SRVNTZ, Lowrider Magazine, Brown N Proud, Shaka Wear, Sullen are a few of the brand I still work with.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
The main lesson I had to learn and unlearn is not everyone is your friend. Yes there’s a lot of people who are going to use you but there’s also a lot of people who are going to open doors for you. Just trust your gut and work ethic is everything. Know your worth.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Building my audience has taken a while. I’ve been doing makeup videos and just content in general for a couple of years. With all honesty just keep going and believe in yourself, if you only get a few likes and views it’s ok don’t give up!! Think about it 50likes is 50 ppl who are supporting your work.
