We were lucky to catch up with Jennifer Gniadecki recently and have shared our conversation below.
Jennifer, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
I wanted to start a business that was totally *me* and I wanted to also do something to give back and help women in situations I had been in before. All the items I sell are super blinged out or bright highlighters, I wanted something that would go with the way I feel about life now, bright and beautiful. I give 10% of proceeds back to women who are victims of domestic violence and also donate makeovers to help them feel better for what they’ve been through.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
What sets me apart from others is that it’s not just a makeup company. It may be a start up and it may be local but when it grows bigger I definitely want to do more to help the community.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
When I was being abused I felt trapped. I felt like this was my life. This was the imprint on my story and then one day it hit me, I have to turn this pain into positivity and that’s when I decided this was my absolute calling.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
TikTok has been my favorite to showcase my brand and it’s been so fun meeting people all over the world. It’s discouraging when you first start out but think of it this way. You’re one video away from being viral. I remember the first time a video hit a million views and I was squealing lol!
