We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jennifer Gilbert. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jennifer below.
Jennifer, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
MeTime- It was everything I wanted for myself. Time just for Me.
Raising a child as a single parent has many joys and many sacrifices but finding a little time just for yourself can be challenging.
My son and I used to do everything together not just the regular daily activities with school and sports but every weekend and holidays as well. As a single Mom I found it hard to have time to decompress or a moment just for myself let alone go to a spa or get a massage. As my son left for college I lost my job and decided to start my own business and I couldn’t think of a more perfect name than what I wanted for myself…some MeTime and that’s exactly what I provide for my clients. I give my clients the convenience of having a spa that comes right to their doorstep. Because I understand that time is valuable I make sure I provide a service not only that I would love and want but I make sure I treat all of my clients how I would expect and like to be treated.
Jennifer, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
After being in business for 3 years with the mobile spa I got into a really bad accident and totaled out my first Van/Mobile Spa. I was devastated, everything was going really good and I had just paid off my loan. Then suddenly things came to a complete stop.
It took about a month for the insurance to cut me a check and for me to find another van to work.
During this time my mom got really sick and I decided to use my down time to move to Florida and take care of her leaving everything behind in Georgia.
I wasn’t sure why my journey took this turn in the beginning but being able to stop and help my mom was the most powerful and rewarding blessing I ever received. My mom has since recovered and I have picked back up with my new van/mobilespa and it’s business as usual in Atlanta and I am so grateful for my clients and supporters. I am truly blessed to be able to step away and come back.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Word of mouth has been the best source of new clients for me. I absolutely love what I do and who I do it for. The clientele and friendships that I have made can last a lifetime.
Its such a supportive circle that I wouldn’t trade for the world.
If you build your business that way you will always be successful even if you move on. Being a good person, being kind, being fair, compassionate, understanding, patient and treating people how you want to be treated and deserve to be treated.
