Jennifer , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?

I’ve always felt drawn to a creative path, even from a young age. One of my pieces from college—last I heard—was still hanging at Ohio University, which meant a lot to me. But at the time, I chose a career path I knew I could succeed in and completed my degrees in nursing. A few years ago, I had the opportunity to retire from that field, and that’s when I finally gave myself permission to pursue creating as my full-time career. It felt like coming home.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I embarked on my journey into the creative industry by embracing opportunities and stepping beyond my comfort zone. Initially, I pursued a career in nursing, driven by a profound desire to help others. This path allowed me to make a tangible difference in people’s lives. However, upon retiring, I recognized a broader platform through which I could influence my generation—by promoting self-love and authenticity, countering the often superficial narratives prevalent in today’s media.

My content serves as a welcoming space where individuals, both women and men of my age and beyond, can feel accepted and find relatable experiences. I challenge misinformation by advocating for facts and science, all while ensuring the delivery is engaging and entertaining. Recognizing the scarcity of creators in my age bracket, I strive to provide much-needed representation, demonstrating that influence and creativity are ageless.

What sets me apart is my unwavering commitment to authenticity. I take pride in not endorsing dubious products or spreading misinformation—a concern that has been highlighted in recent studies about influencer culture. I refrain from using filters or Photoshop, choosing instead to present myself as I am. By doing so, I aim to show that aging is a natural process to be embraced, not concealed. 

I am most proud of fostering a community that values truth and embraces the beauty of authenticity. My goal is to inspire others to love themselves as they are and to critically assess the information they encounter, promoting a culture of informed and self-assured individuals.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?

Supporting content creators is vital for fostering a vibrant digital community. Engaging with their work by liking, commenting, and sharing not only boosts their visibility but also encourages their creative endeavors. Subscribing to their channels or following their profiles ensures you stay updated with their latest content.

Financial support plays a crucial role as well. Purchasing their premium content or subscribing to platforms like Patreon provides creators with the resources needed to continue producing quality work. Additionally, utilizing affiliate links shared by creators when making purchases allows them to earn commissions at no extra cost to you. These actions collectively contribute to a thriving creative ecosystem, empowering creators to innovate and share diverse content.

Embarking on my creative journey was both exhilarating and challenging. Shortly after I began, I faced the profound loss of my mother—a pivotal moment that tested my resilience. In navigating this grief, I discovered solace and strength within a supportive community. Engaging with others who had experienced similar losses provided comfort and understanding, reminding me that I wasn’t alone. This collective support not only helped me heal but also reinforced my commitment to authenticity in my work, honoring my mother’s memory by embracing and sharing the genuine human experience.
