We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jennifer Gable. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jennifer below.
Jennifer , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
When I was new to LA from DC, famous actor of the Big Fat Greek Wedding Trilogy, Louis Mandylor cast me in his short film passion project called Persephone. On this project I was given the choice to say whatever I wanted and improv lines. Shortly after that project I was cast in a Comedy Feature Film, Climb It Tarzan. And then I was cast in Commercials. And played a cop in a Discovery Channel Crime documentary.
I started Stand-Up Comedy after my acting friend, Erica Rhodes worked together on a horror film where she told me to get into Stand-Up Comedy. Shortly after starting Stand-Up Comedy, I started booking lot’s of Shows, winning comedy competitions at The Comedy Store belly room, and booked 2 LIVE TV tapings in Los Angeles, at Ventura Comedy Club and Ice House Comedy clubs, the viral YouTube channel, and ComedyTime.
I love how more Comedians, since have started transitioning into producing their own content for social media and Specials on YouTube and Amazon Prime.
I produced, wrote, directed, and acted in a short film called 13 Steps that won awards at the Holly Shorts Film Festival. This project allowed me to be 100% in control of the creative process and really gave me the validation I was seeking to continue to make and distribute my own creative projects. It was nice to have a platform and to be recognized.
I also shot a passion pilot project ‘Pennies For Your Thoughts’ that I shot with other up & coming talented Comedians. The premises of Pennies is that a group of 20-30 somethings band together as they are trying to find their way in Hollywood. That project has received a lot of great responses from YouTube and has been pitched to a couple networks.
Last year I shot my one hour comedy special, ‘6 Drink Minimum’, at the Broadwater Theater in Hollywood. The project was released on YouTube, got monetized on YouTube, I became a TikTok influencer and the Special gotten great buzz and positive reactions. A group of my fans even had a watch party for the Special in North Carolina.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I have been performing since I was a kid in ice skating, violin, and ballet. My parents put me in everything since I was the only child.
I recently started doing private parties such as birthdays, weddings, wedding anniversaries, house parties, in Los Angeles and San Diego. I have performed at a diverse array of venues including a pizza restaurant and country clubs where people request I do roasts, crowd work, and entertain. I always get a lot of positive feedback from my fans and gain new fans.
I enjoy writing and people appreciate that I write for all topics and do not stick to a particular genre. I write, one-liners, observational humor, political humor, sex jokes, smart, dumb, crowd work, and current events. I speak on a wide range of topics that people can relate to.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I was fortunate to grow up with the internet and social media. I always found the platforms fun and engaging. I enjoyed learning the differences between the platforms and the different audiences I could reach. For example, the demographic on Facebook tends to be young adults and adults whereas platforms such as TikTok target a younger audience.
I learned that I could get my comedy and projects out noticed on social media by using certain buzzwords and topics and I believe this still holds true today. This is the reason I chose to put my one hour special on YouTube where it could get the most eyeballs and then I would release certain jokes on Twitter/X and post short clips or trailers on TikTok, Facebook reels and IG reels now. This made me a bit more of media star.
If you are a young person trying to be a comedian or media star, I would say that they should first workshop their niche and then as soon as possible start releasing content knowing that after every post they should strive to find a way to constantly make their post better whether that’s adding certain buzzwords or finding more creative edits and effects through TikTok.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Everyone knows that the comedy circuit and the mainstream entertainment business is hard to break into and often creatives have to hear the word “NO” especially since most of the bookers are Comedians themselves. However, I have always found a way to avoid hearing NO by making friends, bringing audiences, and selling show tickets in order to perform at the top clubs and make content available to the masses.
As far as hate on social media is concerned. I have ignored the keyboard warriors and I have learned to embrace that the more you succeed the more people tend to come after you on social media. I have even used this energy to fuel my next projects. I encourage young people to ignore all the hate speech on social media and if you can use it to generate positive interactions with your audience. The more participation you get from your true fans, the better experience you will have in the creative arts.
