Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jennifer Fierros. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jennifer, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. One of the toughest things about progressing in your career is that there are almost always unexpected problems that come up – problems that you often can’t read about in advance, can’t prepare for, etc. Have you had such and experience and if so, can you tell us the story of one of those unexpected problems you’ve encountered?
As an entrepreneur, I’ve learned that unexpected challenges are not roadblocks but redirections to something greater. One of the biggest and most unforeseen challenges I faced was in 2020 when I was preparing to open my first physical tax office. I had everything lined up, the credentials, the location, the business model, everything was ready to go. Then, that dream, inspired by childhood memories of adoring every paper clip and sticky note, was suddenly suspended when COVID-19 hit during tax season. Businesses shut down, people lost jobs, and the world as we knew it changed overnight.
all my plans were thrown into disarray. I vividly recall the mixture of shock, disappointment, and uncertainty I felt after all, this wasn’t just about a business launch it was the culmination of a lifelong aspiration influenced by the relentless work ethic of my single mother. The abrupt shift from a planned brick-and-mortar location to a new reality was both daunting and heartbreaking.
At that moment, I had two choices let my plans crumble or pivot and find a way to make it work. And if there’s one thing I’ve always believed in, it’s resilience. I decided to take my services fully virtual. I knew people still needed to file their tax returns, and with so many struggling financially, there was an even greater need for tax professionals who could help them maximize their refunds. So instead of feeling defeated, I embraced the shift. I refined my processes, implemented digital tools, and built a seamless online experience for my clients.
What started as a necessity turned into a business model I love. It gave me the ability to serve my clients efficiently while also being present for my children. Looking back, what seemed like a major setback was actually a blessing in disguise. It allowed me to create a business that fits the life I always dreamed of, one that provides financial stability, freedom, and the ability to be with my kids every day.
The lesson? Unexpected problems will always arise, but it’s how we respond to them that defines our success. Instead of seeing obstacles as endings, I see them as opportunities to adapt, grow, and create something even better.

Jennifer, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m a tax specialist, bookkeeper, financial advisor, and notary public running a fully virtual tax firm that serves clients nationwide. My services include tax preparation for individuals and businesses, tax resolution, tax planning, business incorporation, notary services, and apostille services. But more than that, I offer peace of mind and practical solutions for business owners who want to grow with clarity and confidence.
I specialize in working with residential and commercial cleaning companies, providing tailored financial support that fits their day-to-day realities. From navigating deductions for supplies and mileage to structuring their businesses for long-term tax efficiency, I help cleaning business owners stay organized, compliant, and profitable year-round.
My journey into this field began as a side hustle when my second baby was just two months old—but my love for documents, organization, and business systems goes back even further. As a little girl, I was the one asking for paper clips, stamps, and sticky notes for Christmas. I didn’t realize it then, but I was preparing myself for the work I now love.
Raised by a strong single mother, I saw the value of independence and hard work up close. I always knew I wanted financial freedom and the flexibility to be present for my own children. By 2019, I was preparing to open my first physical tax office but when COVID-19 hit just before tax season, everything changed. Instead of giving up, I adapted. I shifted to a virtual model, and it turned out to be the best decision I could’ve made.
Today, I operate a thriving virtual firm that provides accessible, reliable, and expert-level tax services from anywhere in the country. I’ve created a client experience that’s not only seamless and professional but also personal and supportive.
What truly sets my firm apart is a combination of expertise, transparency, and a deep commitment to my clients. I understand the overlooked needs of cleaning business owners and make it my mission to provide the kind of hands-on, judgment-free guidance they won’t find at a traditional firm. I’m proud of the trust my clients place in me and even prouder of the growth and confidence they gain from our work together.
To potential clients, I want to say this: managing your finances doesn’t have to be overwhelming. With the right guidance, it can be empowering. When you work with my firm, you’re not just hiring a service, you’re gaining an ally who’s committed to helping you succeed in business and life.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
What helped me build my reputation has been a consistent commitment to service, integrity, and results. I didn’t just build a tax firm—I built relationships. From the beginning, I made it a priority to truly understand my clients’ needs, speak their language, and be someone they could count on year-round, not just during tax season.
I believe trust is earned through transparency and reliability. Whether I’m helping a new business owner navigate incorporation or guiding a real estate investor through tax planning, I make sure my clients feel informed, empowered, and supported every step of the way. I’ve also made it a point to educate my audience through content, tools, and conversations that break down complex topics into something clear and manageable.
Shifting to a virtual model also helped establish my brand as modern, accessible, and client-focused. I meet people where they are—busy professionals, growing businesses, or individuals looking for guidance—and make the process simple, efficient, and personalized.
Word-of-mouth has played a major role too. Many of my clients come from referrals, which I take as a sign that I’m delivering real value. At the end of the day, I think people are drawn to professionals who care deeply about their success—and that’s always been the foundation of my work.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Are there any books, videos, essays, or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Yes—several resources have shaped the way I think about business, leadership, and resilience. One that really stood out to me early on was “The E-Myth Revisited” by Michael E. Gerber. It helped me understand the difference between working in your business and working on your business. As someone who started out doing everything myself, this book shifted my mindset toward creating systems and thinking like a CEO, not just a technician.
Another powerful influence has been “Atomic Habits” by James Clear. It reinforced the importance of small, consistent actions and how those habits compound over time. That concept helped me develop daily routines and workflows that bring structure to my business and allow me to stay consistent—even during the busiest seasons.
I also gain a lot of insight from listening to entrepreneurial podcasts like The Goal Digger Podcast by Jenna Kutcher or The Mind Your Business Podcast by James Wedmore. Hearing real stories from other business owners—especially women who’ve built success on their own terms—reminds me that there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to entrepreneurship.
But beyond books and podcasts, my biggest lessons have come from real-life experiences and mentors. Watching my single mother work hard to provide for our family taught me grit and perseverance. That foundation, combined with continuous learning and a willingness to adapt, has shaped everything about the way I lead and grow my firm today.
