Hi Jennifer, thanks for joining us today. How has Covid changed your business model?
Boat Girl was well on her way to being successful before COVID-19, if anything once the pandemic struck my little company shift into the fast lane with no turning back! I acquired a lot of new first time boat owners
Jennifer, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m a retired letter carrier from New England, joined at a young age and put in many many years until getting burnt out, tired and done with the snow. The Post Office taught me time management, discipline, physical exertion and how to be my own boss on my own route. I met my husband while working for the USPS he had owned a marina on one of the routes I was briefly on,and I was then introduced the the boating world I was hooked! Fast forward years later I retired moved to Florida, worked on numerous large yachts, got involved with the community, formally educated then opened my own company. I wouldn’t change a thing. The biggest business challenge I have faced is qualified reliable help. Finally after some time the team I work with is amazing and I miss them if I’m on a small job by myself! Their personalities and performance is remarkable laughing, singing and scrubbing away how can anyone near us not feel the vibe we give off. Services we currently offer range from simple boat washing to comprehensive restoration, ceramic, interior exterior detailing. I’m extremely proud of my company’s reputation of which we all work hard to maintain each and every day built in a very short period of time, 4 years. Boat Girl is not a huge corporate America company we are small, focused, ingaging and truly enjoy what we do,that right there sets us apart from others.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of new clients for me has been simply working people walking driving past walking the dock at the marinas. I always stop what I am doing to say hello and give people the time they deserve which is priceless these days. A simple wave from the crew just last week turned into a new client gained by turning his boat around and asking for our business card. I’m also very active in the yachting community I do my best to attend all the boat and trade shows for networking.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
A lot of sleepless nights! Lol Good reputations take time lots of hard work, consistency and time! Communication, professionalism, premium quality work also contribute greatly.
