We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jennifer Escamilla. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jennifer below.
Alright, Jennifer thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
I wanted something unique something that stood out. I was trying to get away from using my name as a lot of buisimess owners use. I was like was the main thing people ask for on a cake . SPRINKLES ….and then I don’t know I just combined the ending of delicious to it. So Sprinkalicous it was and I loved it .

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Jennifer Escamilla business owner of Sprinkalicous . Located in Forney but deliver all over the Dfw. I’ve been making cakes for about 7 years now. I make a wide variety of cakes from birthday, quince and wedding cakes. I got into the cake world trying to make treats for my daughters birthday party. I’m a big DIY type of mom. I’ll try to do something before I go pay someone lol. It started as treats and somehow slowly turned into cakes . Im definitely a people’s person and always trying to make sure my clients are happy. If something isn’t right or messes up I take my faults and fix it right away. I’ve had cakes melt durning the summer time and I’ll take the cake all the way home and re do the cake and deliver back for free. That’s what always makes clients want to rebook you again. I think the biggest thing I’m most proud of would be my relationship with my clients. A lot of them have turned into really good friends. It’s a blessing to be able to be doing clients cakes for so many years that you’ve made there 1st cake all the way to their 7th birthday . I’ve been blessed with some amazing clients/friends.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I remember starting off with no clients just family. Making cakes for close family members for free. Making my kids cakes as well. Really just gave me lots of practice and gave me chances to take pics. Then posting them and people seeing them . Little by little started getting orders. I started off with really cheap cakes. I remember sometimes not even making a profit. But it was totally fine because i was getting practice in and also marketing at the same time . Within no time I had several people reaching out to me .

Can you share one of your favorite marketing or sales stories?
Every now and then when I’m slow I’ll do a cake raffle . I remember the first time thinking everything through I was so scared and nervous. I was so nervous to post the raffle and nobody would respond or buy tickets. I usually offer a cake with treats . I’ll take the value of it and offer tickets $1 each . I’ve always done my tickets for $1 just so people will buy them. The very first raffle I did it sold out quick. I was so happy and excited .
