We recently connected with Jennifer Dixon and have shared our conversation below.

Jennifer, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.

I always had a passion for writing from a very young age. I didn’t fully grasp the term “creative” or see myself in that light until recently. Writing became a safe space where I could explore my thoughts and feelings freely. Music also played a significant role in my life; it had a unique ability to heal and instill courage. As a woman living with cerebral palsy, music often uplifted me and provided the strength I needed to persevere.

The pivotal moment that set me on a professional artistic path occurred in the summer of 2014 when I first listened to “State of Emergency” by Zie’l. The lyrics resonated deeply, awakening something within my soul and filling me with happiness. At that moment, God gave me a vision—give back to the countless of artists whose music had brought me encouragement.

This realization led to the creation of my brand, JMotivates, a platform dedicated to motivating others who have inspired me. I have been fortunate to connect with many talented artists and creatives through this journey. Looking back, that summer sparked a transformative chapter in my life, intertwining my love for writing and music,
guiding me toward a path I now embrace wholeheartedly. I am forever grateful for it.

Jennifer, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I have built my brand, JMotivates, around my journey, aiming to inspire creatives to believe in themselves, pursue their dreams, and shine bright, and make a positive impact on the world.

Through my own experiences, I know how music can help people overcome obstacles so I wanted to incorporate this into my work. My platform not only celebrates phenomenal artists, but
but also encourages them to keep creating by providing motivation through various forms of content.

At JMotivates, I offer daily motivational quotes and check-ins to help creatives stay inspired and focused. Each month, I curate a special series that highlights my favorite artists and creatives, showcasing their talents. I write personal notes, offer birthday shout-outs, and share new music that has inspired me, ensuring that every creative feels, empowered, appreciated, and encouraged.

What sets me apart is my authentic approach to motivation rooted in my personal journey as a survivor. I understand that everyone has struggles, and I want them to know that they have the power to overcome. My message is one of resilience, faith, and empowerment. I believe that as long as we keep God first and nurture our faith, we can navigate any challenge.

I am most proud of the relationships I’ve built within the creative community and the impact JMotivates has on so many others. Through my weekly newsletter, “The Motivational Vibe,” I aim to provide encouragement, creating a space for creatives to thrive and feel uplifted.

What I want potential clients, followers, and creatives to know is that my work is more than just motivation—it’s about helping you believe in your own potential and purpose. With each interaction, I hope to remind others that they have the ability to make an impact and contribute their unique gifts to the world. God would not have put in your heart if He did not want you to share it with others. My main goal is to make God proud and to uplift as many souls as I can along the way.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?

My creative journey is driven by my mission to motivate, inspire and uplift others, letting them know that they have the power to triumph over any obstacle. I have experienced firsthand the hurdles that can come with adversity. Yet, I also know who holds my hand and my future and God will never leave me. With JMotivates, I am deeply passionate about inspiring other Creatives to believe in themselves, dream big, and shine bright. My own journey with cerebral palsy has taught me that life is filled with obstacles, but those obstacles do not have to define us. Instead, they can become a source of strength and motivation.

I firmly believe that everyone has a purpose, and it is my mission to help others recognize and fulfill theirs. When individuals are empowered to overcome their limitations, they can rise to their highest potential and become the person they were truly meant to be. Following God’s guidance and actively listening to His instructions are essential parts of my life; my faith is my compass, directing every step I take. As long as my relationship with God remains at the center, everything will work out for my good.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

The most rewarding aspect of being a creative for me is witnessing the impact I have on others. It’s about the smiles and the hearts I touch. When I truly embrace and tap into my creativity, I don’t just want to change my own narrative; I desire to empower others to change their narrative as well. That is why I continue to share my journey and my voice, motivating others to soar to their highest potential and fulfill their purpose.
