We recently connected with Jennifer Cloud and have shared our conversation below.
Jennifer, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard
Thanks for having me! I am the Broker/Founder of Prominus®, LLC. I’m a Texas-licensed real estate broker and Texas and New York-licensed attorney with an office in Uptown Dallas. My company motto is “You should expect more from your Realtor,” and every day I strive to show my clients why. From closing cases in the courtroom to closing escrow in a conference room, my background and experience allow me to educate and inform my clients on a level that is rare in this industry. Nearly two decades of experience in litigating construction and commercial cases and in reviewing and drafting contracts helped me to become a well-respected lawyer in Texas. I bring this same tenacity and grit to the Texas real estate profession.
Jennifer, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Well, not only am I the Broker/Owner of Prominus®, I am a Texas licensed Real Estate Broker and REALTOR® (along with being an attorney). I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from Louisiana State University. I then went to law school at LSU’s Paul M. Herbert’s School of Law. Upon graduating law school I immediately hopped on a plane to begin my legal career in the Big Apple where I first began interning in the legal departments at several Fortune 500 companies, but litigating construction cases was the path I eventually gravitated towards and stuck with, even when I decided to make the move to the Big D.
Fifteen years into my legal career as a commercial and construction litigator, I decided I wanted a more personalized interaction with my clients along with the ability to have a more flexible work schedule. More importantly, I wanted to be involved in a process that ended with my clients being joyful and excited about the future. The most logical career move was to transition over to real estate. I retired from litigation in August of 2015 with the goal of eventually starting a one-of-a kind brokerage that somehow included my sphere of influence; hence, the beginning of Prominus®.
Today, I’m a D Magazine Best Real Estate Agent and Top Residential Real Estate Producer, Lakewood Top Realtor, Top 500 Dallas Real Producer, Texas Monthly Five Star Real Estate Agent, Certified Luxury Condominium Specialist, and Certified Planned Development Specialist that assists in the sale, procurement and lease of land, commercial and residential properties. From Fort Worth to Rockwall, Frisco to Magnolia, and all that is in between, I’ve had the privilege of helping my clients and their families begin new chapters in their lives in their new homes, and finding the perfect office space for their booming businesses. My clients feel safe and content knowing that I am reviewing all the paperwork involved in the transaction at hand, keeping everyone informed of applicable deadlines and taking a good hard look at the bones of the structure and quality of construction.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Originally, I started my career as an attorney litigating construction and I made the transition from law to real estate. While the two have their similarities, they are very different as a whole. I found that while I had to remind people often that I was now practicing real estate instead of law, I was also able to use my experience as an award-winning construction-based attorney to help people make the best home-buying and selling decisions for themselves and their loved ones. Having a real estate agent with experience as an attorney is a win-win; I bring my knowledge as an attorney to every real estate transaction I have with my clients. This has helped me become 100% referral-based, which shows that my clients trust me and have enough faith in me to recommend my work to the people nearest and dearest to them.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
Keeping in touch with my clients (many of whom have become friends) is one of my favorite parts of my job! Being referral-based shows me that my clients are happy with my work and willing to entrust my work to people they know. I stay in touch with my clients as much as possible. Whether it’s as simple as a phone call, text, holiday card, or even an opportunity to meet and have lunch or drinks… I love having the ability to keep up with my clients and it lets them know that I am there for them past the home buying/selling process and I’m happy to help wherever and whenever I can.
