Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jennifer Broas. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Jennifer thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
With a business degree, I went into the financial industry out of college. I had a pretty established career at a bond firm when I had married and began having children. It was then that I realized, the career that I had worked so hard to earn would interfere with how I wanted to raise my children. I wanted to be present daily with them. I didn’t want a nanny raising my children. Why have children if I wasn’t going to be the primary daily caregiver? It was also around the same time that doTERRA came into my life it provided me the opportunity to grow my own business and income as well as set my own hours. I poured myself into growing my business when I wasn’t at my professional corporate job, until I had replaced my income. Not everyone chooses to do this, but I did. Everyone in doTERRA is different whether they just love trading their toxic products for non-toxic products for their family or they want to earn a bit of spending money on the side. Everyone has a different goal, but mine was to leave corporate America and I did just that.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
The whole reason I got into the wellness industry was to have a natural birth and raise my kids in a natural holistic non-toxic manner. I soon learned how many other moms were hungry to learn how they could make some changes in their own homes. I met moms who were tired of going to the doctor month after month, I met moms who also wanted natural births, I met moms who wanted tools at their fingertips at home so they could take care of their family’s health better, save money and time at doctor visits. I soon realized that just sharing my testimonials was enough to prompt other moms to look into alternative healthcare. Some moms went all in changing out every non-toxic cleaning product and skincare item, others just wanted to diffuse some essential oils to help the mood in their home. Whatever it was, I was able to find natural solutions for them and it has been beyond rewarding to help others and their families. I’m a follower of Jesus, so I know every encounter with others is not by accident. I trust that I am their to serve them in their time of need whether it be for one illness or for the rest of their lives. Now my children are 11 & 13 and they have grown up with essential oils their entire lives. They know what oils help with what ailment for their bodies. I have equipped them to be empowered in their own health care.
Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
Most people I meet when I talk to them about selling doTERRA so they can earn income for their family, I hear that they don’t have any sales experience. I say, “Good, neither do I!” I found that the most useful knowledge I had to pass onto others wasn’t how well I could sell an essential oil, it was how I used it myself and what I did for my family. My testimonials were what helped. Just sharing a story and being willing to serve others was how I grew my business. I was confident they would have positive experiences with the products just like I did!
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
This is an easy one to remember. We all remember when the world shut down in 2020. This halted many businesses, it definitely halted my in-person trainings and aromatouch trainings. However, I continued to share the products online helping others with not only physical illnesses, but their mental well-being too. My business continued to thrive and pay me even in the hardest times that we have ever seen in our lifetime. If I had the decision to say “YES” to doTERRA again, I wouldn’t think twice about my decision. I would love for anyone reading this that has questions on health issues or mental wellness to reach out. There’s nothing more that I would love to help them out.
