Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jennifer Armer. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jennifer, appreciate you joining us today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
The Armer Foundation For Kids is a non-profit organization dedicated to easing the financial burdens of families with children battling extreme medical conditions. When health insurance is not enough, we assist with copays, premiums, deductibles, and any medical-related out-of-pocket expenses. We took the risk and started our nonprofit right before COVID and there are so many wonderful nonprofits we didnt want to compete we wanted to expanded.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Matt and Jennifer Armer are owners of Armer Air, an HVAC company located in Phoenix, Arizona.
As they began to grow this business and work with the local community, a need emerged. Jennifer found herself meeting families with children facing extreme medical conditions and struggling to find ways to meet their financial obligations with looming medical bills growing.
Jennifer volunteered to organize yard sales, blood drives, and other fundraising efforts to assist these families. At that time, Matt approached Jennifer with the idea of starting her own non-profit organization. From Matt growing up with Type-1 Diabetes to watching a close friend’s 10-year-old daughter succumb to cancer, she knew her foundation was going to support children with medical needs.
The Armer Foundation For Kids was created at the beginning of 2019 with a mission to support children with extreme medical needs.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
We started with a thrift store to help raise funds for our families. We received so many items and donations for our store, but the location was not big enough, and of course, COVID hit us, so we had limited people purchasing. We used online platforms to sell items, but it wasn’t meeting the demand of funds we needed to pay the medical bills for the families we were already helping.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
After we closed the thrift store, we had to make up the difference of the funds we lost. Now I spend my time reaching out to business owners and explaining how a donation benefits their company through marketing and sposnorship.
