Jennie Dinsmore, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.

Hair Priority was conceived from a hair care concept I initiated in 2020 during the pandemic. As a passionate beauty professional fresh out of beauty school, I was determined to offer a distinctive approach to quality hair care services for my clients. I frequently encountered a common challenge in the beauty industry: many consumers felt that few stylists genuinely cared about the quality of hair care, and believed that the market was saturated with professionals focused primarily on the aesthetic of hairstyles rather than the integrity of their clients’ hair care journeys.
As an emerging beauty entrepreneur, I set out with a mission to change this narrative. I envisioned creating a serene environment where clients could experience trusted expertise to help them achieve their hair goals. During this time, I developed Jen’s Hair Therapy; marking my journey as an individual salon suite owner. Jen’s Hair Therapy embraced holistic hair care practices, utilizing natural, earth-derived ingredients such as aloe vera, avocado, and essential oils to create custom hair cocktails. These formulations were designed to nurture and enhance hair health, addressing hair challenges such as alopecia, postpartum hair loss, and scalp issues like seborrheic dermatitis. Within three years I outgrew three salon suites and cultivated a robust, fully booked clientele.

With the success of Jen’s Hair Therapy, I recognized a deeper calling and a pressing need within the community. This need inspired the establishment of Hair Priority in 2025.

Hello, my name is Jennie, and I am an established beauty professional with over nine years of experience in the beauty industry. My journey began at the age of nine in my very own bedroom, where I discovered my passion for hair. Throughout my childhood and teenage years, I would braid and style the hair of friends, family, and peers for pocket change. Despite my love for this craft, I didn’t fully realize my potential until I relocated to Las Vegas in 2019.
At the age of 29, I worked as a youth counselor in a residential treatment center while completing beauty school in Las Vegas. Graduating in 2021 with a newfound determination to address the gaps in the industry. I was inspired to combine a spa-like luxury experience with quality, solution-driven hair care. I frequently heard clients express frustration about stylists focusing solely on fashionable styling without prioritizing hair growth and health. It became clear to me that many women were suffering silently from hair loss and scalp issues.

Recognizing this need, I aimed to create a truly unique hair care experience for women—one that blends tranquility with effective solutions. This led to the development of my innovative approach, which I call “hair therapy” thus becoming Jen’s Hair Therapy as an established brand. By integrating organic, natural treatments derived from Earth’s ingredients, I designed customized solutions to address stubborn hair issues while providing a spa-like experience that included steam baths and soothing scalp and back massages.
Who could have predicted that this small independent suite concept would evolve into Las Vegas’s first Healthy Hair Care Salon? At Hair Priority we are proud to offer not only services but a transformative experience that emphasizes beauty, wellness, and self-care.

We collaborate closely with each client to create the looks they love while keeping them on track to achieve their healthy hair goals. We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

One major thing I had to unlearn was that just because you have a vision doesn’t always mean that vision will be exactly as planned. One thing I was really big on was the exact path I believed I had to take in life to get to my beauty career goals. I believed that everything had to go a particular way in order for things to work out in my favor. I had no idea that the vision I had as a little girl took place in the city of Las Vegas where I would open my first beauty salon.

I believe that at times we can become so focused on the precise steps that it takes to get to a destination. We forget that a road has many paths. I would have never thought that I would graduate with a master’s degree only to end up with a flourishing career in the beauty industry. If you would’ve told me that I would leave my family behind in Wisconsin, relocate to a new city with no friendships, and completely start over from scratch, I would have thought you were crazy. But here I am over 6 years later with a booming beauty career, wonderful professional and personal friendships, and a living a life all worth the journey!

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?

Consistency, consistency, consistency! This is the name of the game. In order to be rememberable you have to show up! You must also educate, implement, and incentivize. Speak to your audience’s pains and solve their problem, show them proof and educate them for free! When you are willing to give a little you gain much more. People learn to respect you because you are giving them something valuable for free. One of the ways I have been able to be so successful in building my clientele so quickly was picking my niche and solving the problem for my clients that they could not figure out themselves. Once I figured out the problem I offered them free small gems of education. This was enough to bring them in with building trust. Once I built the system of know, like, and trust, my clients went from one time appointment; to 2-5 year client relationships. Many of my clients have stuck around so long that they witnessed my journey from sharing a split room in a lash studio, to owning my own suite and now my own open floor traditional salon.
