We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful JENNA WAGNER. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with JENNA below.
JENNA, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Almost all entrepreneurs have had to decide whether to start now or later? There are always pros and cons for waiting and so we’d love to hear what you think about your decision in retrospect. If you could go back in time, would you have started your business sooner, later or at the exact time you started?
I firmly believe that every decision and job up to this point led me to where I am now. I am thankful that I had other opportunities to learn what I wanted to do and be and how I wanted to do it all. There is no way I would have known what it’s like to work harder than some coworkers, but make the same amount of money. Being motivated by injustices and the desire to have control over my own hours and income was something I wouldn’t have known I needed before working in the traditional corporate world. I am thankful for every life experience I’ve had that has led me to this point!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
When I found out I was pregnant with my first baby, I wanted a sequoia tree growth chart for the National Parks-themed nursery, but couldn’t find what I wanted online so I decided to make my own! My husband designed it and I cut it with a jig saw and painted. After I posted on social media, my friends saw it and ordered their own. From there, it took off! I love creating and perfecting each one. Best of all, I found a hobby and have loved learning and growing my woodworking craft from shelving units to ottomans to laundry basket holders

We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
While making growth charts will never be able to sustain me full time, it did allow me the realization that I can love what I do while making a living off of it. After I left my last corporate nursing job, I knew I had to find something where I was in charge not only of my schedule, but of making my own money. I started doing life insurance physicals and was paid per physical so the more I did the more money I made. It felt great! I added flu shot clinics and biometric screenings. Then, after deciding being self-employed was the right path for me, I found my most lucrative gig- mobile IV hydration. I added on a part time hospice job as that is my passion and then I was ready to start my LLC- Grow with the Flow. “Grow” as a nod to my growth charts and “flow” to incorporate the IV hydration. It’s been a fun, complicated and lucrative first year!

Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I try to do all the things and do them perfectly. I’m slowly realizing that I need to pair down exactly what I do, but when it comes to money, I have a hard time saying no! I do, however, know that what Grow with the Flow looks like right now will inevitably not be what it will look like a year from now and I’m ok with that! It’s a fun challenge and I’m having a blast
