Hi Jenna, thanks for joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
Our mission at AssistPro is to create a flexible, work-from-home job opportunity for women. This is the very reason we started our company, and we are absolutely in love with our mission. So many women feel like they have to choose between a career and staying at home. We wanted to bridge that gap so women can have a professional outlet while keeping their families first.
AssistPro allows women to work from anywhere-swim lessons, soccer fields, or even the beach! By giving women the opportunity to work in a flexible capacity, they can be present moms while they work.
We also have a lot of women who need to pause pursuing a corporate career but want to keep their professional skills fresh. Working with us keeps their experience and skills relevant so they can carry them back into the workplace when they are ready. Working in an entrepreneurial capacity also equips them with many different skills they may not have access to working for a large company, which gives them a competitive advantage when they are ready to re-enter the workplace.
Our mission is to help family-focused women have a quality professional experience without compromising their priorities.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a wife of almost 20 years. I am a mom to 3 very busy children. We are hobby farmers, very active, and always on the go. Most importantly, we are happy and love our crazy life.
I got into the business simply because I was exactly the woman I described on the previous question. I was working in the corporate world but I wasn’t being the mom I wanted to be. I wanted to have both.
My professional background was in banking, although all my experience was in customer service, relations, people management, and culture. I was able to take all of that experience into creating the business I have now.
At AssistPro we provide assistant training, community, and resources. We also provide executive assistant services to entrepreneurs, business coaches, and consultants.
The problem that we solve is helping our clients make the most of their time. We provide very busy entrepreneurs and business coaches with a partner-someone who looks out for them, takes care of them, and helps them manage their time by handling all the little things so they can do what they do best.
What sets us apart from others is our matching, and how we help clients understand exactly how to delegate so they can be successful. We do provide virtual executive assistant services but most of the people who our clients interact with have no clue that their assistants are not in the same town as them. That’s a really fun game we play-how long will it take for the people that you’re interacting with on behalf of your client to figure out that you’re not where they are.
What am I most proud of? I am most proud of the fact that I have been able to remain a mom first and a businesswoman second. That is my main focus. I am so proud that I have been able to keep that a priority because it has not been easy.
What do I want people to know about us? I want them to know that we are serving women who really want to be a mom and a businesswoman at the same time. I want them to know that, as a business owner, you can have the best of both worlds with delegation. It actually is an incredible investment that has a super high return. A lot of people just see it as an expense, but when you shift your thinking to the value of your time and where your time is being spent, you will realize it truly is invaluable. We see it all the time.
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
I have a minority business partner who is my Operations Director. I was looking for someone because I thought I could do it all and I was not running the business very well-surprise, surprise-I’m a Visionary! I found her through some connections that I had, and we hit it off from the very first email that she sent. I hired her to be very fractional at the time. Within 6 months she said “Oh by the way I turned in my 2 weeks’ notice at my other job. You really need me full-time. This is what you’re going to pay me until you can afford to pay me what I need to be paid. You really need help, and I really want to help you out.” That started what is now our 5 year work marriage as I call it. She has been incredible. I knew from Day 1 that she had my best interest at heart. As that trust and relationship grew it turned into a wonderful, amazing business partnership.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
My goal from the very first day was to provide great service and to make sure that our clients were super happy. I knew if we could do those 2 things, business would come in. I wanted to create fans of our business just by doing incredible work. When people were happy we asked them to refer us to the people who were important to them. We compliment our clients often and strive to have personalized conversations with them so we can actually get to know them. Simply put, we treated them like friends. We want to be sure our team is full of really great people to execute our service, and then we do just that-provide really great service. That has always been our goal, and it has really served us well.
