Today, we’d like to introduce you to Jenna Sholinder. Jenna was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented Katrina Owens.
Hi Jenna , we’re so thrilled to have you sharing your story with us today. Maybe we can kick things off by having you introduce yourself to our readers? We’d love to have you go into your story and how you got to where you are today.
From a young age, I’ve always been fascinated by business. I vividly remember strolling through grocery store aisles with my dad, talking about product placement and why certain brands seemed to capture more attention than others. That early curiosity blossomed into a lifelong passion for entrepreneurship.
After high school, I decided to dive into the world of mortgage brokering, with dreams of running my own mortgage business. Timing, however, had other plans. I earned my license in 2008, right as the market was crashing. Rather than letting this setback hold me back, my husband and I moved to Calgary, where he was completing his plumbing ticket education. During our time there, I transitioned into marketing and ad sales, gaining valuable experience over three years.
When we returned to BC, I took on a role in project coordination for executive staffing. It was a dynamic and rewarding position that I held for three years, but my entrepreneurial spirit kept calling me. I’ve always had a love for food and wellness, so I decided to go back to school to become a Registered Holistic Nutritionist (RHN) and launched my own nutrition consulting business.
While growing my business, I started helping out part-time at my husband’s boss’s office, where I was quickly moved into a Project Management role. It was here that I gained firsthand experience in the plumbing and construction industry. After three years in this role, my husband and I decided it was time to take the plunge and start our own company, built on our shared values and vision.

Katrina Owens and Knockout Directive have been great to us and I know you’ve got a great relationship with them as well. Maybe you can tell our audience a bit about Katrina Owens and Knockout Directive and your experience with them.
Working with Katrina and Knockout Directive has been a game-changer for our business. Katrina came on board as our marketing director and completely transformed our social media presence. Her ability to understand our brand and translate that into compelling, engaging content is nothing short of remarkable. What truly stands out is how she matches my ambition and drive. We often find ourselves deep in conversations about business strategy, bouncing ideas off each other, and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible for our brand.
It was through this collaborative process that my interest in building out my personal brand began to grow. Katrina’s expertise in public relations and her ability to see the bigger picture inspired me to explore how I could leverage my personal story to enhance our business’s reach and impact. She made the transition seamless, guiding me through the nuances of personal branding and helping me find my authentic voice in the public sphere.
One of the aspects I admire most about Katrina is our shared commitment to supporting other female-founded brands. This alignment of values has not only strengthened our working relationship but also contributed significantly to the success of our projects. We both believe in the power of women lifting each other up, and this principle is reflected in everything we do together. It’s incredibly rewarding to see how this shared vision of empowerment and support translates into tangible results for our business.
Katrina and Knockout Directive have been more than just a marketing team; they’ve become trusted partners who genuinely care about our success. If you’re looking for someone who will not only elevate your brand but also challenge you to grow and evolve, Katrina is the person you want on your side.
