We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jenna Miller. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jenna below.
Jenna, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
In 2015 I took a big risk. I gave up everything- stable job, housing, half my possession, my relationship- and bought a one-way ticket to India. Looking from the outside, I was “too old” to uproot my life. But the perfect opportunity came up and I jumped at the chance to fulfill a dream that I thought had expired. I spent 3 months living in the Himalayas, teaching yoga to international students followed by several more months solo-traveling through Southeast Asia.
Had I always envisioned myself as a bold adventurer? Absolutely not. But my experience living and traveling alone overseas showed me just how courageous I could be. It taught me that I could figure things out, handle uncomfortable situations and take calculated risks. I had the time of my life and never once regretted the things I left behind! I returned as a stronger, more confident version of myself with priceless memories.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m a yoga teacher and holistic health practitioner who helps exhausted, stressed out women get their vitality back. I lost more than a decade of my life to burnout, often feeling too drained to do more than work and survive. After plenty of trial and error, I learned how to support my body naturally and get my energy and peace of mind back. Now I help other women avoid the same mistakes I made, teaching them how to eat, move and live in alignment with themselves for more sustained energy and a brighter outlook on life.
Low energy, depression, anxiety, brain fog and blood sugar imbalances do not have to be part of getting older! I help women understand how their choices impact the way they feel. Through personalized nutrition, intentional use of herbs and supplements, and stress management techniques, my clients find better sleep, more mental clarity and improved energy.
I believe whole heartedly in the body’s ability to right itself and it’s an honor to be part of this discovery for other women.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Stay true to yourself. I never understood how some people could easily pick a career and stick with it. I’ve always had a wide variety of interests. Allowing myself to be interested and to explore multiple paths at once lead me to create my own business. And it also led me to connect with more like-minded people. By staying true to who I am, I’ve drawn in more of the clientele I enjoy working with and I’ve collaborated with other entrepreneurs who share common interests.
Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
Stay curious. The wellness field is always evolving and it’s important to stay on top of new trends and research. It’s helpful to stay informed, but even more to stay inspired!
