We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jenna Duncan a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jenna, thanks for joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
Every year, I organize a special Motherhood Event to honor and celebrate the wonderful mothers who are my clients. During the event, each mother is treated to a photography session in our private studio, which is adorned with beautiful floral arrangements for the occasion. Each mother is also given access to my carefully curated closet of designer gowns for their photoshoot. In addition, every mother is gifted with a goodie bag filled with treats from local boutiques, while cookies and refreshments are provided for their children. As a final touch, each mother receives a stunning piece of jewelry as a gift. I believe that mothers deserve to be celebrated and pampered, and this event is the perfect way to do just that!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a mother of two – a boy and a girl – and a natural light, lifestyle photographer specializing in family, motherhood, and newborn photography. I absolutely adore working with children and meeting so many lovely families from all around Houston.
My passion for photography started at a young age and developed through film photography courses in college. I began photographing families over a decade ago and have been doing so ever since.
Over the past decade, I’ve refined my style to focus on capturing light, joy, and emotions which sets my work apart and is loved by my wonderful clients. I offer all who reserve a session with me the use of my field location or my private studio. All clients are also able to borrow from my gorgeous client wardrobe and have access to hair and makeup services as well as a florist. It’s such a joy to provide my clients with a simple yet luxurious experience for each of their sessions in addition to beautiful photos to cherish for a lifetime.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My mission has always been to make family, newborn and baby photos not just beautiful but also genuine, relaxing and enjoyable for everyone involved. I have curated a closet of gowns that photograph beautifully and are flattering for all body types for Mommas to borrow for their sessions. To take the load off of having to shop for clothing for the family, I also provide boutique clothing for newborns, babies and kids as well as a guide with direct links to clothing and I provide styling assistance to my clients. I also coordinate hair and makeup and a florist for any families who desire!
Beyond this, our photo sessions are playful, engaging and interactive. I encourage cuddles, kisses and stopping to smell the wildflowers which makes for not just a stress-free session but also creates beautifully organic, emotion-filled images which truly have the most meaning.
As a mother myself, I know how hard day-to-day life is with a busy schedule and kids. It is my mission to help other Mommas enjoy taking this time out to feel beautiful, spend some quality time with their little family in front of the camera and walk away with gorgeous images that they can look back on and cherish forever.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The emotions I see from families when they receive their images after a session with me is by far the most rewarding part of this job. I have seen so many mothers cry tears of joy when they receive their images. Mommas often order their favorite images to be printed and framed through my custom frame designer so they can hang their photos in their home. I have designed heirloom albums for husbands who gift them to their wives for special occasions. Seeing the joy these images bring and the emotions they evoke is so priceless and fills my heart!
