We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jenna Davis. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jenna below.
Jenna, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Parents can play a significant role in affecting how our lives and careers turn out – and so we think it’s important to look back and have conversations about what our parents did that affected us positive (or negatively) so that we can learn from the billions of experiences in each generation. What’s something you feel your parents did right that impacted you positively.
My parents always believed in me, and let me know nothing I craved was out of reach. From a young age I can recall my parents, namely my Father, telling me to follow my dreams. No hair brained idea was too crazy and no vision too big. I was always encouraged to try, even if that meant failing, and try again. Having their support from the inception has given me the courage to dream bigger, reach higher and always strive for more.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m Jenna and I’m a Creative Consultant. My “formal” background has focused on Visual Merchandising and People Management, for large brands such as Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie and smaller boutiques like Clare V. and Dôen.
After having my child I stepped away from traditional full time work and focused more on what has always “lit me up”, helping others bring their creative visions to life. From designing the perfect wood paneled bar wall to creating 500 marble pots for a Hollywood premiere party, I’ve done it all. I realized early on that I’m a person who prefers to wear many hats and juggle many projects as long as those projects give me purpose.
My current focus has been on bringing arts and crafts to the masses, through chic curated experiences. Whether it’s working with brands on a large scale or at a children’s birthday party, bringing out the creativity in others is the gift that keeps on giving. Seeing people connect, in their communities, through creativity has always been the goal.

How do you keep your team’s morale high?
My background has shaped the person I am today. Through every twist and turn, it’s always been about the people. Throughout my many years of people management, it was always imperative to me that people felt bought in and part of the bigger picture. I have personally felt like a cog in the wheel and I vowed to always treat my employees as people first.
Taking time to listen, and connect, has always been first for me. I made sure the employees I managed felt confident in coming to me with suggestions or issues. Treating people with respect. Every business starts with the people who make it up.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
There have been numerous jobs I’ve left without having the security of something new. Call it what you want, but in hindsight it’s always worked out. My intuition is loud, and my gut has always led me. Fortunately I’ve made great connections along the way and have always left past work positions with dignity and respect. Whether it’s been an old colleague or friend (or even an instagram post about an open position) these opportunities have always seemed to find me at just the right time. Taking the leap to bet on myself hasn’t always been easy, but the joy you feel when you’re truly doing what you love can’t be beat.
