We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jenna Borrelli . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jenna below.
Jenna, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Alright, so we’d love to hear about how you got your first client or customer. What’s the story?
When I finished hypnotherapy school I began seeing clients consisting of friends, family, and friends-of-friends. It was exciting to start working with individuals but post-graduation I was yearning for a client that was completely brand new to my face and services. At the beginning of Jenna BorrellI Life I was working full time for a large marketing agency. At the agency I was also part of a mental health leadership team and helped moderate events and programming for folks at the company to participate in.
It was a Friday in early May of 2022 and I was moderating an event about managing mental health in the workplace. I was responsible for fielding and answering questions in the chat. An individual chimed in mentioning they were experiencing anxiety that was causing untreatable stomach issues/nausea. I saw this message and immediately thought about hypnosis. At first I was nervous to reach out since this was during a corporate event, but I listened to my intuition. I directly messaged this individual sharing that outside of the agency I was a hypnotherapist and I’d be happy to chat about hypnosis as an option to help manage symptoms.
Minutes after I sent this DM the individual was in my inbox ready to schedule a consult with me. Together we had three sessions exploring emotional regulation and breath work to help target this anxiety that was causing mysterious nausea and GI issues. It was incredible and transformative work we were doing together, and this was the first individual I had helped outside of my direct network.

Jenna, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Jenna and I am the owner of Jenna Borrelli Life. I am a certified hypnotherapist, holistic wellness consultant/practitioner, and multi-dimensional artist. I’ve been an artist my whole life and passionate about my own self-discovery and expansion journey since I was a little kid. When I first started my business I was working full time in marketing and balancing my own mental health needs. I was focused on teaching people how to use art and healing tools as a way to bolster discipline and creativity in their lives. My business expanded as I continued to gain knowledge and training in the alternative wellness industry. I received my certification in hypnotherapy in 2022 and pivoted my business to focus on custom hypnosis sessions and creative coaching. I quit my corporate job in May of 2022 due to burnout but also to give myself the space to build my business from the ground up.
I currently offer 1-1 hypnotherapy sessions, wellness consulting for businesses and individuals, and custom meditation recordings. The major areas I work with individual clients include:
-Burnout prevention & recovery
-Discipline & acceptance
-Confidence & intuition
-Art hypnotherapy
-Self-love & accountability
-Alchemizing shame
-Dropping unhelpful habits
-Creating an artful life
-Building systems of rest
I actually have two businesses in one. Half my work is helping individuals create breakthroughs in their life through hypnosis and wellness coaching. The other half of my business is working with organizations to foster creative and restful environments where all employees feel safe and supported.
The formats I work with clients are:
-One on one consulting, coaching, or hypnotherapy
-Group meditation
-Group Workshops
-Asset creation (articles, videos, presentations, etc)
Simply put, my mission is to help people create balance in their life in order to have more REST and CREATIVITY.
My formula is: Rest + Creativity = Abundance.
What sets me apart from others is I use hypnosis as an entry way to deeper problem solving. So often we rely on our logical mind to make all decisions or to judge our emotions. When we work with our subconscious (through hypnosis) we are able to access deeper parts of ourselves in order to provide insight and solutions to what we are experiencing in the present. For example, an individual might come to me in order to build more confidence in their life. The conscious, logical mind believes becoming confident allows them to date or make moves in their life/career. In hypnotherapy they might discover that they struggle with confidence because they were convinced at a young age that it’s safer to stay small and quiet. With the client we work to rewrite those old stories in order to bring the desire of more confidence into the individual’s subconscious mind. It’s then the clients responsibility to integrate these new learnings into their waking life – by making new choices, putting themselves out there, or simply being nicer to themselves.
What’s also unique about my work is I use relaxation as an entry way to problem solving. Hypnotherapy is essentially productive rest. It’s like meditation but deeper. It allows people to fade away from the stresses of their modern day in order to provide TLC to their mind, body, and soul. In order to explain or understand the true effects of hypnosis, the best thing an individual can do is actually try it.
I am so proud of the work I do. Hypnotherapy changed my life in ways I could never imagine. It is truly one of the most magnificent healing arts I’ve ever learned. It helped me stay sober from alcohol. It allowed me to build my own confidence and respect for myself. It has helped me foster deeper connection and healing for hundreds of individuals. And it proves that being restful and intentional in your life can truly have a lasting impact.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
For much of my life I believed the idea that I need to be productive all of the time in order to be worthy. I had to be achieving big or making lots of money or constantly working in order for people to see my worth and value me as a person. Of course I love being successful and expanding as a person, but my worth isn’t based on my productivity. I am so much more that my output or what I create. I am valued because I am a human being, not because I’m the fastest or smartest or hardest working one.
A big focus of my work is centered around burnout prevention and recovery. And that’s because I am no stranger to burnout in my own life. I have learned many times in my life that working myself to a pulp is only going to cause me to burnout.
Rest is a sacred part of human existence. And being a well rested entrepreneur/hypnotherapist/artist is a valid business strategy.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
One of the most effective strategies for growing my clientele has been testimonial. This includes testimonial of my own experiences using hypnosis/creative healing work and the testimonial of the existing clients who’ve remained dedicated and consistent with their sessions. I talk a lot about discipline as a core tenant in my work. Discipline is often viewed as an icky word, but I think it’s crucial for living a balanced and creative life. People enjoy working with me because I can approach icky or difficult topics in an accepting and approachable way. The more I can showcase that through my own experiences and the experiences of existing clients, the more I can illuminate the potentials for new clients.
People are also afraid of hypnosis or hypnotherapy because they’re not educated on what it is. So many people see scary movies in Hollywood or hear horror stories of people being taken advantage of through mind control. Those are not stories of hypnosis but of coercion. The more I can educate folks on the safety and protection used in hypnotherapy, the more it encourages folks to trust the process and sign up for a session. Hypnotherapy is safe, effective and DEEPLY relaxing.
One of my favorite testimonial’s to date:
Working with Jenna was literally life changing. I was dealing with a lot of anxiety that was making me sick to my stomach and I had doctors telling me it was GERD and even though I had completely changed my diet and eliminated all caffeine, fried foods, dairy, etc I still was not feeling better. I had three sessions with Jenna and the emotions that unexpectedly poured out, the breathing techniques she taught me and the extreme calm I felt after our sessions were unbelievable. I highly recommend anyone suffering from any form of stress or anxiety to give this a try. I am so incredibly grateful for our time and her help during my healing journey.
