We were lucky to catch up with Jenn Neal recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Jenn thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.

My business was really born from going on my own self-healing and shadow work journey and discovering there were several gaps in the teachings and the support that was available. I spent thousands of dollars, and took all the classes, experimented with all the modalities, and tried to consider all the “rules”. But, there still seemed to be missing links and missing pieces. I still wasn’t really feeling better. At least not in a long-lasting way. This journey took me many years. It was a long, frustrating, and sometimes disappointing journey to say the least. I had to put the pieces and modalities together from the many different sources I gathered over the years, to create a process that would really help me with my shadow work, empowerment work, and manifestation work. Eventually I started putting puzzle pieces together though. I ended up deciding I was going to throw all the rule books out (on shadow work, spirituality, AND business building), and I began to create my own energy healing and manifestation practices, and that’s when my whole world changed. I created an entire shadow work program bringing together all the tools that took me years to discover and try on, and thousands of dollars to acquire. If I could heal on a quantum level, and manifest a dream life, I just knew others could too!

I wanted to really make a difference in the world, and really help people find their empowerment and manifesting abilities, because it completely changed my world and who I am as a person. I wanted others to experience that too. I wanted people to have the opportunity to fall in love with life and with themselves again. I took all my intuitively created modalities that worked for me, and that I found to be missing when going on my own healing journey, and created offerings to help others. I built an audience locally through creating an in-person women’s circle, and I also began to build an online space. I started offering courses, mediumship readings, and one on one sessions all designed to help people heal from the past, find confidence and self-love, and create a life they are in love with.

My intention is always to help people find their magic, their healing, and their abundance. I asked for feedback and testimonial so I could share with others and give them an idea of what to expect when coming to work with me.  A unique approach I took with building my business was that I did a whole lot of manifesting magic to reach my soul mate clients and to grow the business. My entire business was created on a foundation of soul led magic. The other thing I did was I threw out the rule books. I let the creation of my business be soul led, and intuitive and I haven’t had a regret yet.

Business has doubled year over year so far, but the best part of all is I am reaching more clients, and helping even more people take control back over their life, their mind, their manifestations, and their energy. I do some really serious healing work, but my business still feels like a dream business. It never feels like work. I feel like I get to play, and be creative, help people all day, and build it exactly as I desire it to be.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

My name is Jenn, and I am the owner of The Wayward Witch Co. and The Wayward Magick Academy. The Academy is a place for spiritual development. It is a supportive space for you to embark on a spiritual, intuitive, and magical journey.

I am an energy healer, a shadow work practitioner, a medium, and a manifesting mindset coach.

After years of living with depression, anxiety, and in a constant state of lack and frustration, I knew something had to change. I was carrying my shadows and my past traumas on my sleeve like they were a badge of honor. I was overworked, underappreciated, undervalued, and underpaid.

After reaching a breaking point, I decided it was time I went on a self-healing journey. It was a long and sometimes frustrating path, but eventually I began to heal from my shadows, my past traumas, heartbreaks, and a lack mindset. I began to find my own personal power. (Which was AMAZING!) I went from feeling like a constant victim of my circumstance to becoming an empowered thought leader, healer, and teacher.

I began to manifest and write my reality exactly as I desired it to be. It was completely lifechanging, and my natural next step was to share that with others. We actually don’t have to live unhappy, dissatisfied, and uncomfortable in our own skin anymore!

There IS a way to heal from all that, and to create something new! I have such a passion for those that feel like:

• It’s never going to get better
• That there is never going to be enough
• Like they tried everything
• Like their heart is always going to get broken.
• And for those that know they are destined for more, but don’t quite know how to get there.

It’s the most heartwarming soul-centered work I could ever imagine doing. Even during times where business gets slow- I can’t imagine going back to a corporate job. I’d end up being the resident medium and office shadow work practitioner for sure! My heart
and soul are with my clients, and with their healing work.

And after several certifications and several years of studying energy healing modalities from around the world, and from many different cultures, I am thrilled to now offer Distance Energy Healing & Assessment Sessions.

What a gift to be able to do distant energy work, and your client ends up having a few restful nights of sleep when she had previously been suffering from insomnia. Or to be able to give relief to someone’s back pain. Or comfort from heartbreak. Or to give
them the feeling of being held, even from across the world.

But I don’t just stop there. One thing that makes all my offers unique is I also give my clients the tools and empowerment to continue with their own self-healing journey. I think that it’s important for every person to discover and get to know their own individual
healing abilities.

While I do share my own ways and what works for me inside my courses and classes, I also teach students and clients how to find their OWN truth, and how to confidently listen to it.

I help my clients build a foundation of healing and magic that is perfectly tailored to them.

I created my business from the ground up. I had always been in the corporate world and leaving that steady paycheck was scary. But it’s been an amazing journey, where I’ve learned so much about myself and my clients, and I am so grateful for this lovely space
I have created with my clients.

It’s not always easy being a small business owner. Especially through a pandemic and all the other crazy things that go on in the world. But I persevered and flourished through it all as did so many of my clients.

This is a story of following where your soul is being led to. A story of finding the confidence to leave a situation you are not happy in, and create your own way.

Say yes to your soul, and the world will say yes to you.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

I think being authentic, genuine and brave are what helped build my reputation within my market. As anyone who does spiritual or psychic work, there is often a big stigma that comes along with it, and it can be very intimidating putting yourself out there as a medium.

But it’s a gift I have, and a gift that wanted to be shared. I am able to get accurate information from loved ones on the other side spirit, and it helps people with their grief or finding answers to their questions.

If I allowed the fear or intimidation to stop me, I would not be able to help connect people with their loved ones on the other side or deliver such messages of love, healing, and support for them. I had to be brave, and I had to be willing to be authentic
and put myself out there, even if people thought it was strange.

So, I set out to be authentic and set some intentions for people to see the real me, and for them to know what is in my heart. I knew the work I was doing was authentic, and so I just set the intentions for people to see that in my work also.

I didn’t want to have to put on a show in order to get clients. I just look like a regular person. Was I “witchy” enough? Did I seem intuitive enough? I decided to just be genuine and not let those fears stop me from my soul work- or my empire building!

And it doesn’t have to just be spiritual work where you can apply this to. Being authentic can apply to any business model. After all, people often are buying our energy, not necessarily the thing you are offering.

We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.

My business started as a side hustle. I was working a very fast paced global technology job (which meant 3am emails, and end of year panic on Christmas and New Years).

This is where my stress, anxiety, and depression were at an all time high, and I had my breaking point. The one that led me down a self-healing and spiritual path.

After several years of my own personal shadow work inner journey (and still working that corporate job), I started putting what I had learned and what had worked for me into things like workbooks and journals and listed them on Amazon.

Then eventually I started offering local women’s circle. I put together a few small courses on topics I loved that really helped me. From there, the Academy was born. I focused on growing and nurturing that for a year.

I worked full time at my corporate job, and part time on my business. I’d work on my business in the evenings and on weekends. It was fueled by my passion and soul for this life changing work though- so it didn’t seem exhausting. The corporate job is where
the exhaustion came from.

I tucked away any extra money I was earning from the side-hustle until I felt I had a comfortable amount saved. And I did it. I made the scary leap of faith and quit my job to go full time in my business. That is when my signature Shadow Work Program, and Abundance Reset & Mastery Program were born. We started having retreats (pre-covid).

I started partnering up with a close friend and we began offering readings, and master classes together. And it just kept growing from there. (I also manifested business growth each step of the way, and the opportunity to leave that job!)
