We recently connected with Jenifer D agrela and have shared our conversation below.
Jenifer, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea of starting in the world of decoration with balloons was born from the need to have economic independence, that I could do something from home to be able to continue taking care of my son. (back then I had only one, now I have two beautiful children, who are my inspiration and motivation). When we arrived in the United States in August 2017, in the adaptation process, I had to be at home with my son, while my husband worked and adapted to the new changes. I felt a little afflicted, being at home doing nothing, and not producing my own money. I was always very creative, in Venezuela, (the country where I was born and raised) I liked to organize parties and decorate them, and I remember that when I was here, my mom was celebrating her birthday and we did something very small and intimate for her, then my mom told me: ” Hey, daughter! Why don’t you dedicate yourself to decoration? Click! A brilliant idea came to my head, I began to investigate, search, read, which branch of decoration would I choose? Until I decided to go for balloon decoration.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Without having any knowledge, I began to investigate everything about the world of balloons, what types of balloons, how to use them, what techniques, how to combine colors, I realized that it was a very wide world and although you could see some tutorials on YouTube was also complex. So I decided to take my first balloon decoration course in 2018 in Atlanta and then another in Miami, and I said wow I love this! I started making some other products for my friends and family to put into practice what I learned, I visited several local restaurants to offer my services and I had the opportunity to decorate them several times, for Halloween, Christmas and Valentine’s Day, I also participated in a festival, all this to make myself known.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
In 2019 I decide to register my own business under the name of Jen’s Balloons. Since then 4 years have passed, which have not been easy, but not impossible either, the first years, were many donations, to make my work known, many times, I felt fear, frustration, discouragement, however, I did not give up, I continued, with patience and passion, with a lot of support from my family, I kept training myself to always offer my clients the best trading in the market. Today I feel grateful and blessed, because every day my business is on the rise, growing step by step, at my own pace, despite the fact that I have a great barrier with the language, (I am studying, but I still have to) I have earned the heart of many clients and I have had the opportunity to decorate corporate events, and that makes me happy because it means that I am climbing another level, and that I am doing well. As I always say, it has not been an easy road, but nothing that cannot be achieved with perseverance, dedication, passion, and family support!

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
As I was creating products, and I was making decorations for any type of event, birthdays, baby showers, graduations, etc., I was obtaining my photos in this way, and I was posting photos on Facebook and Instagram, from time to time I paid advertising in the networks, to a video showing the process of my work, or giving advice, recommendations, that helped me attract some clients. When I already had a great portfolio of my work, I decided to create my website, and wow! this has really helped me a lot, even though it didn’t look so professional, (because I did it myself), I was able to get people to contact me more
