We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jenene Mckay and Juliet Sosa a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation with them below.
Alright, Jenene Mckay and Juliet Sosa thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
We started out catering company Til the Last Bite! in 2015 while I was working a full time job and enlisted her my sister who works in Cyber Security to join me on this crazy adventure. We would pair my food and wine for clients. We figured we should have our on wine to pair with my food. So we dove in to learn everything about the wine making process. We launched Til the Last Sip in January 2020 and three months in the pandemic came.
We freaked out a bit but lucky for us everyone was on their phone so much more than usual and were drinking. We started making wine cocktails live and discussing our brand. With the support of family and friends and strangers shared our videos and orders started coming in.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Our business is unique because we didn’t just put on our name on a wine that we was already made. We did this from the ground up. We designed the bottles and corks ,searched for grapes , purchased our own bottles, perfected our own recipe from scratch.
We currently have a 2022 Rosè of Malbec and a 2021 Sauvignon Blanc. We source our grapes from Paso Robles and Santa Barbara.
The wine industry is so use to seeing wine companies owned and ran by men. There’s only 17.8% wine companies owned by women 82.2% owned my men and 75% of women are consumers of wine.
We hope our company has inspired all women and especially African American women that they too can enter the world of wine, spirits and beer.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?

We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
Myself and my partner grew up together because we’re sisters lol! We’ve always had a love for food, different cultures and wine. We took what we loved about wine and bottled it up and hoped everyone would enjoy as well. Our mother was a native of Belize and she was a great cook and host of great parties. She passed away from stage 4 breast when I was 17 and my sister was 13 .We really became even closer o se the years bonding over our for food, entertaining, wine and our fusion of mixing our culture with others.
