We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jen Kiernan a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jen, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
I’ve been in the medical field since 1998. I’m the wife of a retired US Marine and mother of two amazing adult children. I have had the opportunity to work in a lot of different fields from emergency, surgery, dermatology and orthopedics in my 23 year career. And while I enjoyed all of those particular fields, my favorite has always been dermatology and aesthetics. I was trained as an aesthetic injector back in 2004 with a dermatologist that I was working with. And I knew almost immediately that it was the field I wanted to be in. It’s a good feeling when a patient comes in and actually wants to be there in your office.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I feel pretty blessed in my career path and have gained incredible knowledge from some of the best physicians in the aesthetics field. At Organica Aesthetics, our goal is to make every patient feel beautiful. It’s extremely rewarding when you have helped someone love what they see when they look in the mirror. How even the smallest or slightest change can make them feel completely different about themselves and give them the confidence to be the best they can be. I personally specialize in medical injectables from Neurotoxins, Dermal Fillers, Kybella, PRP injections, Plasma Fibroblasting and PDO thread lifts. We offer an array of services including Body Contouring, Microneedling, Chemical Peels, Radio Frequency Facials, Hydrofacials, Microdermabrasion, Teeth Whitening, etc. that can be scheduled through our website at www.OrganicaAesthetics.com
I feel like the thing that has been most important to my success is that I am just a regular person like the people I treat, and patients know that I am treating them the way I would want to be treated. I’m very honest with my patients and I’m very conservative with treatments. I feel like a lot of patients really appreciate that because usually they have experienced providers who have pushed them to have procedures that they really didn’t want or need. I keep my pricing extremely competitive because I want everyone to feel like it’s not out of reach to have something done to improve the way you feel about how you look. I don’t ever want my services to be something that only someone with a lot of money can afford. Consultations are always no charge and we love that we have so many referrals from current patients. We have an incredible staff and provide a very welcoming and relaxing atmosphere that patients always want to come back to!
If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
If I could go back, I would absolutely choose the same profession. I love making people feel good about themselves and knowing that what I do has a direct impact on how someone feels is very rewarding and an honor to know that they chose me to help.
Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
The most helpful part of succeeding in my field is being able to build a relationship with each and every patient and to know that each person I see is putting their trust in me to provide the best results possible.
