We were lucky to catch up with Jen Du recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Jen thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I worked in an architecture design company as a marketing specialist before becoming an independent artist and designer till now. Working with so many talented architects all around the world opened my eyes to the design world and I knew a creative career was what I wanted to pursue in the future, from that moment.

Jen, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Jen Du. I’m an illustrator, graphic designer, multi-discipline artist.
My artwork focuses on modern geometric abstractionism. I use geometric shapes and vibrant colors to create abstract figures, landscapes, or moods.
I worked in both the architecture and fashion industries for more than a decade, which had a huge impact on me when I developed my art style. And they all became my inspiration resources when I created my artwork.
My modern geometric abstract artworks have been used for advertising campaigns, packaging, music, book covers, clothing, and products for clients from all over the world.
My clients include The Academy( The Oscar Awards Official), Anjunabeats (the Top British Record Label), Avène, Club Med, etc.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
When I see my clients achieve their goals in campaigns, boost sales or gain positive response from the audiences and market because using my artwork. That proud and happy feeling is the most rewarding aspect of being an creative.

How did you build your audience on social media?
At first, I posted paintings and there were not so many positive response from my Instagram. Physical painting post is really tricky in my opinion. It’s very hard to photograph and the color and light are not always satisfying. And then the ipad came out. So occasionally I use ipad to draw and posted them on Instagram. The response was improving bit by bit.
So finally I abandoned paintings and started to create digitally.
Finding a special style is the key point both for artist and instagram. You have to be unique, have strong visual impact and unified style.
Post regularly is also very important. I think learning some tricks of social media operation is very important for creative. Cause the posts are actually your work gallery for your audiences and potential clients,
